California has been living on the inheritance left from their days as a red state.

That inheritance will soon be running out.

These dumbasses do this type of stuff, then leave CA for places like TX and try to do the same crap here. They are like locusts.. they just destroy everything they come in contact with.

Well Bill Clinton put a surtax on our phone bills to make sure everyone could have internet access back in his day so this doesn't surprise me one iota.

I’m all for CA doing that to its citizenry.

Can they include Facebook posts, Tweets and Instagrams?

Could generate additional tax revenue and/or cut down on a good bit of mindless drivel posted by idiots.

Cali would soon decide that Facebook and Twitter, amongst other Silicon Valley businesses, should be collecting it from all users of those services. Not just those residing in Cali.

They already tax our plans so this really isn't much different than a per text message charge.

Still a dumb idea. Did it come from She Guevara?

It’s unbelievable that they don’t get that this creates more problems than it solves.

It's a prime example of why agreeing to more taxes means that they will enact more taxes for the same cause

It’s never going to be enough, they will tax and tax until there’s nothing left to tax.

Why not? Gov has all your text messages anyway. SSpaniel texted 32,698 times in 2012, that’ll be $250 for 2012.

Whoops! Most of them were Trump! loving messages... make it $500!
