I've only visited So Cal a few times, hoping to get out to the Bay Area and North Cal some time in the next year or two.

Ditto.

Same with the Oregon and Washington coasts.

It’s just absolutely brutal out here.

It’s been in the 60s all week, that means I’ve had to break out the jeans and hoodies. The shorts and flip-flops have now been stored away until winter is over next week.

It rained the other day, so my car got dirty.

My home has now doubled in value, so I don’t know what I’m gonna do about that.

Soon it will be Spring Break and I’ll have to deal with all of those smoking hot college girls on the beach wearing next to nothing when I go for my Sunday jog on Ponto Beach.

Oh, and the people are insufferable here, all of the damn military vets and active duty folks walking around disrespecting America. Sure, I’m a vet, but that’s different.

Let’s not forget my parents home, their palm trees have gotten too big, so they’re blocking the sun from heating their pool, so now they have to have someone trim it.

You know what that means...Yep, Mexicans walking around on the premises. Unsightly.

I’m going up to the mountains to snowboard next week, and that is going to be a nightmare. I’ll probably end up in a hot tub drinking beer with the wife every night after riding that damn lift all day.

Yep, I totally get what they are saying. It just sucks so fricking bad out here. Don’t ever come here, just don’t bother, it’s horrible.

Sounds awful

Meanwhile, I'll enjoy the smell of chemical plants and 80 degree heat here in the god fearing paradise of Baton Rouge

I’m so beat up by the taxes out here. I mean all the parks and bike trails. They’re building another damn park down the street with even more baseball, soccer, football fields, and playgrounds. It’s almost like these kids out here are going to grow up in a world with tons of things to do. Horrific.

The damn infrastructure, all of these damn freeways that allow me to drive to these terrible world class museums and venues. I have to use them, and it’s so over done with HOV lanes and traffic flow measures that help my commute. Terrible.

The other night, my neighbors and I were out by the pool, sitting around the fire pit, drinking some shitty San Diego made craft beers. Just going on and on about how horrible the quality of life is here.

We all agree, it sucks. Again, don’t come here.

You can get that pretty much everywhere in the country. And pay less taxes.

California really is like a third world shithole.

I mean, I know we joke about it being a third world shithole.. but it's actually a third world shithole.

Correct. So stay where you are.

Bottom line here, you guys love to overblow everything when it comes to California.

The truth is, it’s no different than anywhere else. It’s not like there are Leftist Guerrillas on every street corner.

The majority of us live here because we love it, not because we have to live here. I could live anywhere I want, and I’m not leaving. Except for maybe a small island in Hawaii.

It’s a nice quality of life here, no matter what you read or hear. Sure, it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. I have to trek to Minnesota every summer to get some good fishing in, because deep sea fishing sucks. However, I’m not trying to fish every weekend so it doesn’t bother me.

If you’re a hunter, it’s kind of a pain in the arse, but I don’t hunt since leaving Missouri. Don’t really miss it either.

Everyone needs to worry more about their own personal quality of life and stop telling everyone else why theirs sucks.

If you’re happy, you’re happy. Ain’t no survey gonna change that. If you’re not happy, change it.

The traffic and cost of living has a lot to do with this without reading the article.

No, I just get tired of the constant bagging on my home state around here by people that think they know better.

I don’t come here and bag on Louisiana or Alabama, which I’ve visited quite a bit. It’s not exactly a utopian existence down there. However, if you live there and love it, then good on ya. That’s no skin off of my arse.

I’ve always just assumed that the constant hand wringing over California on here is mostly due to fear of a majority democrat state doing well.

Which is dumb if you really think about it. That would be like me obsessing over every piece of news about Texas because it’s a red state. I like Texas, it’s a nice state. They’ve got their own culture, I respect that. Why would I want to see that go to shite because I disagree with the politics?

I’d prefer everyone do well, and do it however they want to do it. Hopefully, if it’s not working out you’re not too hardheaded to see that something needs to change. Toeing the line in spite of yourself seems pointless to me.
