I wonder if they have any pay streams that cross into efforts in other states.

That’s a tricky little thing bordering seditious conspiracy at the state level.

The government paying people to influence the government. Yeah, should be illegal.

We are very close to seeing Newsome get perp walked

Lets hope so.... but, based on the "perp walks" we've seen so far(which is zero) I am not hopeful.

The Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA) is a California-based non-profit organization founded in 1986 to serve, protect, and empower the immigrant community. It organizes immigrants to fight for, and achieve, a more just society through policy advocacy, worker rights protection, and legal services, including deportation defense, to ensure equity for all, regardless of status.

The part that would be illegal is the electioneering. State government can issue grants to nonprofits that are engaged in protesting, but not to get involved in political campaigning or vote turnout initiatives.

This is the part I dont understand. How can violence against ICE not be considered politically motivated? And if so that would take away their non profit status.

The IRS will drag your arse over the coals because of some error they made, but they let billions flow to these political organizations tax free???

The reason is they provide services that can legally be funded by taxpayer money and also except private donations. You would have to do a full scale audit and prove they used taxpayer money on the things that are not legal.

Obviously it depends on the non profit, but a lot of non profits that deal with direct social work staffing are 90%+ government funded through grants and contracts. When I worked at a non profit out of college we had around $3 mil in revenue and donations were around $200-250k. We had one fundraiser that brought in almost $200k most years.

I think we are discussing two different issues.

One, no govt funding should be spent to help illegals, thats nonsense.

Two, it doesnt matter if its govt or private funding, its the "non profit tax exemption" Im questioning. To be non profit it has to be non political. If the donations are spent trying to feed "illegals" or give them legal advice I understand.

Printing up fck ice signs, blocking roads, and throwing objects at ICE is obviously political and should not be given tax free status. If you have ever been audited by IRS, they do a lot of fishing just to see if they can get bites from honest taxpayers, who have to pay a lot of money for them to just say, oh shucks we were wrong. Yet this obvious violation, worth 100 of millions in tax revenue just gets a pass?

California voters have watched their house burn to the ground, an illegal invasion, some of the highest regulations and taxes, run away fraud and now this.

They will still pull the lever for a D.

Did California pay the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA) more than $100 million mainly to fund protests as a viral social media post said? No, that's not true: California's payments to CHIRLA were overwhelmingly tied to immigration legal services and social welfare programs. There is no evidence in state budget records that any funds were used to pay or organize protesters.

Another fake news report. Why do these keep getting posted without any research into the facts?
