The California Version of The Green New Deal and an October 16, 2020, EPA Settlement With Transportation is What’s Creating The Container Shipping Backlog – Working CA Ports 24/7 Will Not Help, Here’s Why

The trucking issue with California LA ports, ie the Port of Los Angeles (POLA) and the Port of Long Beach (POLB), is that all semi tractors have to be current with new California emissions standards. As a consequence, that mean trucks cannot be older than 3 years if they are to pick up or deliver containers at those ports. This issue wipes out approximately half of the fleet trucks used to move containers in/out of the port. Operating the port 24/7 will not cure the issue, because all it does is pile up more containers that sit idle as they await a limited number of trucks to pick them up.

Sorry the shelves are bare and you are paying more for everything, but the climate catastrophe can't wait.

I’m relatively well educated on this subject and didn’t know about this. Honestly other states should start suing California.

But where? Oregon and Washington aren’t much better. Vancouver is tyrannical. No one wants their product and trucks in Mexico due to the cartels. The answer then is either going through the Panama Canal or around the Horn.

I posted about this the other day. This is not only in CA but also in the Build Back Better bill Dems are trying to pass and enforce nationwide.

The next issue would be finding ports that can offload and store shipping containers. Logistically, this is a very bad scenario.

We should since it might be the same price now. No need to save money.

I thought the unvaxxed runners were the cause of America’s supply chain bottleneck? Didn’t Whispering Joe tell us so?

Sounds ridiculous. Do you have a link to the page of the entity and these requirements?

I ran into some similar issues with CARB about 10 years ago. California has no shortage of emissions laws and regulations.

Which is if course environmentally counterproductive. There will be a lot of unnecessary waste just to replace perfectly good vehicles.
