Except it isn't. As I pointed out. Social media is not only a way to follow the kids around but it's also way for the kids who are being teased to have an outlet

40 years ago if every time you walked out the door kids tease you there was no other Avenue to interact with people your age in a positive manner

You can do that today just by turning on a switch

You young folks have no fricking idea how isolated a person could be 40 years ago if no one their age liked them

As per usual we have a case of young people thinking they're the first people to encounter a problem and that theirs is special

That's always been the case for young people dating back forever but now adults help them participate in this stupid belief

Colorado had all that anti bullying shite so instead of being properly bullied the columbine kids were just avoided

If they had gone to Louisiana, let's just say it's hard to shoot a gun with a wedgie and broken glasses

Actually I come from a generation (silent) when bullying was almost non-existent. Bullying involving girls was unheard of. We respected our peers, elders, and those in authority. Things were much simpler back then.

With the amount of proud soy latte drinking feminist allies we have these days, I sometimes think they weren’t bullied enough.

Social media gave leftist pansies a means to bully others.

Yes, it does. Has for decades. Not just the "words" kind either, as you seem hellbent on focusing on.

I'm focusing on it because the words form of bullying is by far, the largest element of out so-called bullying epidemic.

Physical bullying is bullying.

we go back to recognizing that WORDS aren't "bullying

Actually, words are worse than that to leftists. They are considered violence. Of course, convincing our young people and people in general that is true will lead to more real world violence. The worst part is that the proponents know this and that’s their entire motive for pushing it. They use this to justify their violent behavior towards wrong thinkers and their destruction of property during protest. Eventually, just your existence alone will be considered inviting violence upon yourself.

I don't think teaching your kids to be able to stand up for themselves absolves other parents for NOT teaching their kids to stop being shitty human beings.

I disagree, Rob. People shouldn't discuss things like this in such ill-informed generalizations. Not all kids are built the same.

Anyway, doesn't matter if it's an epidemic or not. Takes only one kid to go off and then there's a dozen dead kids. Don't you think?

Yeah, my son was in our neighborhood playing basketball with some of his friends and had a seizure. One of the kids was a kid my son didn't get along with. The kid told my son he wish the next seizure would kill him.

You don't think that should bother a kid to hear something like that, especially with other kids around?

Kids can be pretty fricking mean and some kids have a hard time handling the shite that gets thrown their way.

And that a-hole kid's dad was military. Seems they would have raised a better kid right?

I don't disagree.

Alas, I can't parent everyone's kids. Just mine.

I haven't read this whole thread but I agree with your premise. Historically, bullying is a part of social normalization. It guides young people away from weird behavior.

I'll give you a real life example. The kid (I shall call him John) went to private school and had a lot of behavioral problems. He was very smart but he was always disrupting class and teachers complained.
But no one ever beat the shite out of him.

He was expelled from the school in 11th grade and had to attend his home school, Southwood HS in Shreveport. He got culture shock. On the first day of school he went up to a large kid in gym class and said: "Tell me, why do you smell so bad?"

The large kid beat the shite out of him.
John only made it that 1 day in normal school and had to take his GED. He was protected from social norming to the point that he needed a crash course.

ETA: Apparently, a bunch of dummies in here don't comprehend that physical bullying is still bullying......but that isn't what's driving the whole "bullying epidemic". THAT is a "mean words" issue.

You don't think continuing verbal abuse is not bullying?

You are completely clueless.

ETA: Have you ever coached any children's sports teams?
