Brit Visits His Girlfriend - Gets Banned For Life and Mocked By ICE

Isaac Roblett, from Hastings, East Sussex, flew to Chicago, Illinois, on April 24 for the trip of a lifetime with American girlfriend Camila Iglesia, 23. He had been talking about spending three months in the country under an ESTA permit.
But when Mr Roblett, 24, arrived in the country, immigration officials questioned him about his reasons for travel. They scoured his phone and discovered a text message about 'moving' and feared he may stay in the country long term.
Mr Roblett was locked up in a cell for a day and interrogated in a windowless room for an hour and a half. He was deported the next day without seeing Ms Iglesia and is now also banned from visiting the US for life.
He is not even allowed to appeal the ban, he claims. Describing the reaction of immigration officials as he was informed of it, he said: 'When they told me this so many of the guards were mocking my British accent. They were asking if I wanted tea and crumpets.'

Looks like the agents didnt want him in the country and were just looking for an excuse to keep him out.
My only comment is that if they really dont want them in the US there should be a way to keep him from boarding. Would save a lot of bad press and be a more straighforward process.

when ICE was INS my girlfriend was banned from crossing from Canada.. in decenber 99 because she told the border guard to stop reading her diary...
she couldnt cross until we got the k2 visa and got married.
interesting side note, the judge that married us is the same judge that kept throwing Mary Kay Latuernu in prison.

When I was backpacking through Europe Aussies got the hardest time from immigration officials because they were known squatters that would stay in a country for 6 months and get jobs illegally.
Part of their walkabout...leave Australia at an early age for 2 years and just travel...and then return home and marry. Sort of like a Mormon but without the proselytizing.
