My guess is that Trump had a shake-down or threatened to put the IRS on Carrier if they did in fact leave.
Well Obama was successful using the IRS as a tool. So Obama did it too is the defenses!

Bigger news, Trump creates more Republican voters in the future in an area decimated by job losses in recent past, the Rust Belt.

In addition to a more favorable business climate that will start with Trump's inaugration and UTI keeping its defense contracts, Carrier also got some new inducements from Indiana.

So, the taxpayers of Indiana saved the jobs?

Is the Art of the Deal a book about how to use government money to save jobs or something?

Maybe yes and then again maybe no. Those inducements could be major corporate welfare or could be minor we won't know until all the details of the deal is released, but what we do know is that Indiana gets to keep ~1,000 taxpayers employed.

Shouldn't we know the details before we blow Trump for this? What authority does he have to make a deal?

Too many unanswered questions at this point.

Resume circle jerk.

Awe look who loves America weak and impotent.

They stayed, we win, 1400 jobs on the scoreboard.

Add Ford into the equation and Lord Trump is MAGA

Lol at liberals who are mad because Trump's not even president yet and he's brokering deals at Carrier and Ford to keep thousands of American jobs from offshoring.

Let them bristle.

I'm obviously speculating here, but I suspect that a company such as Carrier in this instance might have been persuaded that at least waiting was prudent.

I mean, would you want to move to Mexico if there was even a chance that Trump would be able to make good on his tariff threats? You'd just have to up and come back.

Note. I am not supporting Trump on this one. I oppose his tariff ideas. That said, I suspect that they aren't nearly as simplistic as portrayed, so, I want to actually see what hits congress rather than deal only in the rhetoric.

Hey, Bush and Obama bailed out Chrysler and GM with taxpayer dollars. I think they're still winning this contest.

I'm surprised they haven't found a way to thank Obama yet.

Just wait until deregulation and the EPA are slapped down to size. The energy job market is going to explode. This Trump economy is already making Obama look like the job hating loser he is.

Not mad at all - I don't live in Indiana so my taxes aren't paying for this.
