The Biden administration announced Wednesday a $135 million commitment to helping to relocate Native American tribes whose homes are threatened by the effects of climate change. Using money from the 2021 bipartisan infrastructure law, the voluntary community-driven relocation program, led by the Department of the Interior, will assist 11 tribes with adapting to climate change — or, when necessary, moving their communities altogether.

In addition, $5 million planning grants will be given to four Native villages in Alaska and the Havasupai Tribe in Arizona, the Yurok Tribe in California, the Chitimacha Tribe in Louisiana and the Passamaquoddy Indian Tribe in Maine.

The Obama administration gave $48 million to the state of Louisiana to relocate the coastal village of Isle de Jean Charles, which has lost most of its land to rising tides in the Gulf of Mexico, in 2016. But residents disagreed about where the new village would go. The first people to move under the program started moving into their new homes only this year.

So they are going to relocate Indian tribes? Seems I’ve heard of that before. Wonder if there is any oil that could be given to China under their current lands or maybe some of that stuff needed to make those fancy lectric car batteries?

Planning grant - paychecks to create a committee to explore the need for a working group to consider starting regular meetings.

This is fraud, waste, and abuse.

Are they just trying to spend as much money as possible before the house changes?

I lived in Alaska and I’m white. Can I get some? Mendenhall glacier receding at the same rate it has for the past century really took its toll on me emotionally

Isn’t the cause of coastal erosion in Louisiana due to canals built by oil companies and the Mississippi levee system?

I'm a 'native' Merican.

I was born in the USA, so that makes me a native of this country. Yes?

Dad was, Granddaddy was, great-granddaddy was, GG Granddaddy was...our family goes back to the early 1700s.

Gimme muh check.

Just give them a bunch of money, Call it whatever they want. That way it looks good to the public because it shows that Joe really does care.

Seems moving was a standard issue Indians did before whites coming to America. They were nomads so paying them to move around is ironic

Doling out tax dollars to everyone who is not white, straight, Christian, or conservative. I'm not getting a dime.

Don’t worry. You’ll pay no more because we don’t actually collect enough in revenue for these handouts.

You’ll just see the value of your dollar erode, further impacting the people the dollar was handed to in an even more significant manner than you.

Oh, yeah. So…worry.

It seems like the people most affected by “climate change” are the former coal mining families who lost their jobs. When and where will Brandon be locating them? They are mostly white, though, so…
