Brain Dead to lay out his tax plan later today...
LINK

quote:

The president plans to give the IRS tools to crack down on the wealthiest Americans who have evaded paying taxes, the White House said in fact sheet about the plan. Biden plans to emphasize that his administration will protect Americans earning less than $400,000 a year.

there's that word again.

If I made over $400k per year, I'd fricking sue his worthless arse for defamation (as well as NBC News). This is accusing "the rich" of a criminal act (a felony [tax evasion]). This is defamation per se.

What if those Americans are currently being held against their will but are not hostages in Afghanistan? You gonna protect us the same way?

It’s always a moving target with these people. Within 10 years, rich will be owning your own home, a 401k, and two cars.

“Tax evasion” is a loaded term on several fronts, especially since you can follow the IRS’ own recommendations on how to file your return then be subject to penalties and interest for doing it wrong.

They are crushing people in blue coastal states with this shite. Effective tax rates in CA and NY will be pushing 60%. When are these people going to wake up?

This language implies that the government believes all income belongs to them.

That group doesn't evade paying taxes. They use the tools afforded to them to lessen their tax burdens. Tax evasion is illegal . Tax avoidance is not.

Those people still pay a vast majority of the tax revenue that is actually realized, yet they don't even mention or focus on the millions of people that contribute nothing and still have their hands in the jar.

These people are not morons. They know we are.

frick this administration with a thousand AIDS dicks.

I'm tired of the nonsense. It's past the point of paying attention to anything they say.

My accountant (who is also a personal friend) has a theory. We keep hearing that the IRS is underfunded and understaffed. His opinion is that over the last 20 years there has been a marked decrease in the intellectual capacity of IRS people he engages with daily by phone.
Can you say 'diversity'. Today's IRS workers cannot handle the complexity of an audit of a major corporation. The corporations may know this and they are getting more sketchy in their dealings.
But more IRS agents won't help. They need to go back to hiring by merit instead of quotas.

Bingo.

The difference between tax evasion and tax avoiding is “The IRS hasn’t charged anyone over it yet or changed the laws to prevent it in the future.”

Tax evasion would be lying about how much you earned.

Tax avoidance is every major British rock star living overseas for a year and creating an album to avoid paying 95% to the government.

I’m sure that this same problem extends down to the state level as well.

Old time auditors used to be able to call the bluff of businesses while the old time agency heads will tell people to pay their fricking taxes.

I know one such auditor who was told by a shipping company he audited that they would take their business elsewhere. He asked them “Are you taking the river with them?”

OTOH, the agency head was politically connected to the point that when she told people to pay their goddamn taxes, they did. Auditing a corporation in Minneapolis and staying at Hubert Humphrey’s mansion while you do so makes an impression on how much shite she will put up with.

Not only that, how far do you think $400K goes in a city like NYC where a two bedroom apartment costs over $2 million?

The mass migration has already started and will only gain steam if this happens.
