Given that India has the largest population and an economy that is growing, wouldnt it be the next big market for autos, and kinda of sort of make sense for Tesla to build a factory there??????

When I worked for Nokia 10 years ago, this was the norm.
BP and Chevron just now catching up.

Shell also laid off a ton of folks . They also are moving engineering to India.
Food for thought , Boeing also moved a lot of its engineering to India a decade or so ago .
How is that working out for them ?

think we’re gonna hear some friction with BPs assets in GoA and west Texas.
bullshite. Elliott is an activist in the business of making $$$$. GoA assets are some of the most profitable they have. Elliott buys huge stakes to gain board seats and focus underperforming companies on value creation. bp has underperformed due to their over investment in things other than fossil fuels.

What is it with Elon and Pajeets?
India has invested in the socio-economic development that China failed at. So while China still relies heavily on lower-level manufacturing for their economic base, India has surplus millions in educated and English-speaking workers. Both are cheaper than their American counterparts, but one is much more economically viable with a higher margin.
There just isn't any other country with such a surplus of educated types, let alone educate types who speak English. That's why you see so many companies relying on Indian labor.

When these people talk increasing "efficency" they are realling talking about increasing their profits at the expense of Americans.
It's always business manager types who have no intention of innovation going straight to cutting and cutting everything to the absolute bone. Then the entire company becomes a skin and bones organization that cannot even begin to even think of putting forth efforts to innovate.
This is the Hallmark of an American enterprise....cutting and cutting and cutting and manipulation of financial statements.

Elliot’s CEO Paul singer
Pure fricking a-hole right there.
Watch Tucker Carlson's show from a few years ago where he did a special on Cabela's and how Singer got involved and the result was destruction of an entire town through job loss.

Everyone who works for these companies sending jobs to India needs to bury them with their own DEI bullshite.
Demand to know what is the % of women managers and technical discipline leads at these centers.
Ask these corporate managers how their company can do business with people that believe in a caste system of inequalities towards those being deemed not worthy to be an engineer.
Ask them what are their Indian counterpart's stance on inclusiveness towards LGBTQ people?
If Congress was worth a frick, they would have placed a tax on these services long ago.

As someone who has had to work with Indians for years i can attest this is not a good idea
Indians are fine when it comes to memorization, it's why Indian kids win spelling bees and get good grades, but they can't do anything that requires innovation or outside the box thinking
Give them a script and strict guidelines to follow and they will be OK. But if anything goes off script or off the rails and requires problem solving they are useless. They will stop working until someone else fixes the problem and gets things back on script. They can't troubleshoot or problem solve themselves.
At my job I've worked on 2 big projects from the ground up that required innovation, problem solving, trial & error. I'd hit road blocks that caused me to have to take a step back and find ways around the issue and to solve it. I had to think outside the box. Indian engineers would not have been able to do this. They'd just sit there until someone else solved it because they are unable to go off script. They need a strict set of instructions to do anything.
They are also worthless when it comes to people skills, communication and leadership.

The corporate workaround to waning population growth and reduced H1B will be offshoring.

No. I'm saying this is using HR jujitsu against them. Indians by large DGAF about DEI, but US corporate mangers do.

I suspect that's coming.
Not with Elon at the helm, who threw absolute tantrums about H1B potentially being reduced causing Trump to do a 180 and all of a sudden be pro H1B.
As someone who knows many people in the tech industry, H1Bs are strictly hired to save cost and someone you can leverage to work insane hours because if they don’t then they are back to whatever country they are from.
