no, the son is not being a son...a freaking red dress to prom?
This isn't Aril 1 or Halloween. This guy just wants to be a distraction and "the talk of the prom"...the dad is trying to save him from himself
but I wouldn't have shown up
I would have gone straight to prayer...and tears if that were my son...lost lost lost!

I'd call them shoving their phone in my face harassment more than what he did

No sympathy if Dad had his head up his own arse for the last eighteen years.

Either way, he shouldn't have done that. I think the kid is mentally ill and looks like a fool in that dress, but that was not the venue for that.
This type of mentality has backed us into the corner we’re now in.
The kid should be shamed publicly for doing what he was doing. If the dad said he looked like an idiot, which he did, he was doing the kid a favor. Societal norms must be reinforced. What’s going on regarding trannies and queers and other freaks is what happens when you’re no longer allowed to reinforce those norms. It’s precisely why bullying to some degree is necessary.

The only difference is that one is a kid whose brain hasn't developed yet and the other appears to be a CEO who chose a stupid hill to die on.

What’s the point of this grown man following and engaging him? Just roll your eyes and ignore him.

That would have been the flash point in my life. Hell my old man about snatched my left ear lobe off when I forgot to take that skull earring out in 1982.

They have put dads in prison in Canada for similar stuff.

The kid is weird, and the dad is an a-hole.

quote:As a father, if that is his son, I sympathize with the dad. It would hurt me to the absolute core of my being to know that my own child was this mentally ill and that I had failed to instill values or protect him to keep away from the enablers. I would love him, but do whatever I could to protect him, including trying to prevent him from being involved in this lunacy.

If I got wind that my son was wearing a dress to Prom would simply have a “work emergency” that needed my attention. Avoids any unpleasant conflicts

It's obvious the dad isn't enough of an a-hole

That Dad failed as a parent long ago. No reason to make a scene and bring attention to his failings.
Family discipline or even arguments have no place in public -- regardless of the reason.

Hard to do when you're being filmed. Its hard to say what I'd do with a son like that.
I hear you but I can see myself losing my shite if I were that guy, especially with his boyfriend putting a camera in my face.

I don't know that the boy in the dress was his kid.

There is no reason for a grown man to be doing that to a mentally ill minor.

Yeah I don't think that's his kid.
Although the kid with the camera is annoying as frick "you think he looks gross? you think he looks disgusting?"

If my son ....Came out with that on ...Simple message .
"Walk to the damned prom."
"Mom will drive me!"
"No she won't, you're wearing her dress."
From what we can see ....the son's feet are too big for her shoes.
