How does this work in John Bolton’s mind? SecDef resigns for fear of his own safety? Should the POTUS then resign? If the SecDef has fear of his safety, shouldn’t that be cause for a robust intelligence gathering mission? Sounds like there are some bad hombres out there that need to have an introduction to Jesus.

Can we also get Liz Cheney, Lloyd Austin, and Susan Rice’s thoughts on Hegseth now too?

Bolton needs a cell next to Clapper and Schiff.

Member when Billy Kristol said Handsome Pete was gonna be forced to resign 2 months ago?
Good times.
Good times.

Sounds vaguely threatening.

the snarky comment about "spending time on signal chat groups" invalidates any other opinion he may have on Hegseth. discussion of whether or not those conversations should have been going on on signal is at least a valid conversation. but regardless of that it was absolutely DOD related, it's not like he was talking about LSU football. the "spends his time on chat groups" infers that he's doing that instead of his job.

POTUS should never have been POTUS. Should have quit when he got shot. Getting shot is bad for your safety.

He should resign because he isnt qualified for the job.

list the quals required for the job that Pete lacks........

He's still serving in active duty?
No? Then that would make him a civilian, yes?

This talking point failed in Senate hearings.
Signal App talking point died last week..."The Pentagon is in chaos" talking point the week before that.
I have never seen a cabinet appointment get this much attention in the absence of a real scandal. Hell, Biden's Sec Def went AWOL and aside from a little carping, it was forgotten in a news cycle.
Why does "Handsome Pete" scare the shite out of everyone inside the Beltway?

the only response you'll get to this will be some gibberish about how he is a tattooed Fox News host, and then some completely subjective circular emotional nonsense about how he just isnt qualified because we feel like he lacks the qualifications! never a real answer.

Crazy to think Orange hired John.
There were those of us who screamed bloody murder from the rooftops about that one. And some others jumped quickly to defend the hire.
It was not a good hire. Along with Omarosa, that was probably tops in the "bad personnel" decisions that Trump made in term 1. It looks like Bondi/Patel might be the top flubs of term 2, but time will tell.
John Ghengis Khan Bolton is one of the preeminent warpigs of the past 50 years.

Really?
Here are a couple of big ones.
Never was a Battalion Commander. I assume he was a company commander but I'm not certain;
Never was a Brigade Commander;
Never was a Division Commander;
Never commanded or held a critical position at the Army level.
The reason those are important is because its a progression of learning how to work with a staff, delegate authority and manage large numbers of people and equipment to accomplish a mission. The higher up you go the bigger the staff and the more people and things you control.
Hegseth has none of that. He also has no business background other than shaking down people on Venmo because he is Trumps boy.
He also is a hard core alcoholic, thats his description not mine. He said he would quit if confirmed, apparently thats not the case.
The DoD had a plan for Pete, dump the enormity of the Sec Def job and responsibilities directly on his head day 1. It worked. The uniformed personnel at the Pentagon run the show, Pete is in charge of DEI stuff.

As a journalist, how do you not have a follow-up question, “What do you mean for his own safety, sir.” Our media has destroyed this country.
