I’ve been curious about this, too... which led me just to check out the Portland & Seattle Reddit page because I knew it was probably seeing high traffic. This response was pretty spot on imo. I was shocked to see it.

They want to live in this society but not share the laws and rules of other people. They’ve stated they want their own form of justice system rendered by themselves and their own separate economy that we have to pay for. They also want to kill all the white people so how will dead people pay for their livelihoods? It’s completely insane.
