To clarify, he’s referring to the mortal sin of scandal, as defined below. Not a public incident that causes disgrace etc.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church defines scandal as “an attitude or behavior which leads another to do evil. The person who gives scandal becomes his neighbor’s tempter. He damages virtue and integrity; he may even draw his brother into spiritual death.”

My guess is that the Arch Bishop would only let her know personally that she was excommunicated or barred from receiving communion in the Catholic Church. There are certain acts one can commit that automatically excommunicates one from the Church, procuring an abortion is one of them, as far as I know publicly supporting abortion isn't automatic but maybe I'm wrong on that.
But basically she was likely told in private that she can't receive communion but if she persisted in her grave sin he would release it to the press so to speak.

I live in South Louisiana and have my whole life. My issue is not that I have not had enough opportunities to rediscover anything. I just don't believe any of it any more. I realize that to many of you this seems like a huge thing, but to me it's not more shocking than you not believing in Judaism or Islam. I just take it one more.
Again...not being a dick. I know you guys mean well and are saying it from a good place, but I'm incredibly happy and content in my beliefs.
