I don't remember Jesus saying anything about donating money to a bunch of pedophiles.
I tend to shy away from this sort of thing since it isn't fair to the good, wholesome catholics (or people of any religion really) to hold the bad seeds against them.
Plus, the catholic church IS the largest and most generous charity in the history of humanity so it does deserve some credit.

I know enough to understand it is not for me, but I certainly have no problem with those who choose to practice Catholicism and would not criticize their decision

However, I think it is counter productive to address these issues in a militant fashion.
Militant is telling you you are a detriment to society and stupid for being religious.
I am merely suggesting that maybe you are too credulous with regards to belief and offering the facts.
I don't think you are a bad person. I think you are ignorant of many things, but not bad.

I know this was always an issue for me when I was a Christian.
"How do I know I'm right and catholics are wrong?"
A lot of in depth research on the matter (and others) revealed that both sides quote mine, cherry pick and selectively follow scripture. It was part of a long process of deconversion.

Unfortunately I do not believe you to be a good person at all, just embittered, argumentative and unintelligent

I will acknowledge that to be true in some sense, now where do you base yours, if you profess to be so.

quote:Maybe so. But he raises some salient points. I've never heard of the perpetual virgin thing, and I know a good bit about Catholicism. Certainly, any characterization of that detail as a generally held Catholic belief is vastly overstated, but the fact of it being part of catechism makes the point legitimate.

He only smites the wicked, and to be fair, by Mesopotamian standards, that is pretty good. Contemporary gods would just smite people for no reason at all.

You ae totaly lost about all things bble aren't you.
You haven't got a clue, because you are looking at all things in the physical and zero things in the spirirt.Jesus told Nicodemus you must be born again, In spirirt.
Because you can't understand God's laws he is barbaric to you, but that's your fault not his.You will get it one day.
It might be on judgement day, but you will understand in full, you can be a lazy coward now, or you can seek him out.
Either way you will know the Lord of Lords one day.

To an infinite being our life is temporal and brief. While we tend to view death as something terrible and final, maybe God does not share our views. Death may be simply a portal passing to a new dimension. The death of children seems distubing to me personally, but I am limited by my own preconceived beliefs about death....We are all born to die, the fact that we all do is no logical argument to disprove Gods existence.
