This line of thinking is why our govt sucks and nothing changes. They don’t represent the voters because they don’t have to, they know voters are stupid and will elect them anyways.

If we started voting for any non incumbent no matter how “good” a candidate is then they’d get the message eventually.

It doesn’t matter what a candidate looks like, how they speak in public, what they do for a living or if they are married, or single, or gay, or alcoholics or drug addicts or sex addicts. All that matters is do they vote for legislation their constituents support? Do they push for policies they campaigned on? Do they put American interests before all others?

That’s all I care about. Do those things, and I don’t give a frick about the rest. Congress was never meant to be a career or a way to get rich and powerful. Every candidate who appears to be a “great man” is a fricking fraud. They all end up compromised because they put on this big front of a good Christian family man then someone in DC gets pictures of him drunk at a VIP party kissing a 18 yr old cocktail waitress and holds it over his head. Give me a candidate that’s honest and says from the beginning “yea I’m divorced, I love bourbon and hot chicks and cocaine, so what. I’ll vote how you want me to”

At least that candidate can’t be blackmailed

Why don’t you push for a constitutional amendment that limits the amount anyone can spend on political advertising? Let no one spend any money on that type of promotion and have the candidates be listed on a website with their platforms.

Spoiler alert: there’s a certain elephant-esque party in America who’s stopping the above from happening.
