To fix the gun violence in America we should put anyone who commits a crime with a firearm in jail for 20 years without parole.
Most of the assholes who commit these gun crimes are already receiving some form of welfare. Instead of sending some gangbanger ebt and section 8 money just use it for their prison expenses.
It might be more expensive but that a-hole would not be out among law abiding citizens commuting crimes and mayhem.
After they get out in 20 years, if the offend a second time it is the death penalty.

Instead of EVER speaking about the root cause, they'll use the same old "BAN GUNS" tactics they always have. Take away guns from everyone.

I genuinely cannot understand the mindset of the urban progressive political machine.
The most charitable interpretation would be that the urban progressives legitimately believe that if they tear down the systems of oppression, the statutes, defund the police, etc., the citizens will cease committing crimes and organize themselves naturally into an egalitarian society where each gives according to their ability and receives according to their need.
The more cynical interpretation is that urban progressives intentionally foster social discord and unrest so that they will always have a problem to solve - and solving that problem invariably requires the people who are not part of the problem to cede more of their rights and taxes to those who are part of the problem. And this is actually the underlying progressive goal.
