It's not a huge deal to flip out about. This is pretty SOP to avoid larger scale wars. You coordinate a fake show of power to satisfy domestic saber rattlers, but it was never a real threat.

The Turkish source is playing diplomatic word games and Joe Concha is spinning what was already spun.
I hate this administration as much or more than anyone, but this is how you lose credibility with people who are capable of critical thought and don't simply react emotionally to spin.
What likely happened:
U.S.: "Look, everyone knows you're going to retaliate, but you'd better not do X, Y, or Z, or we'll jump in and wreck shop."
Turkish source: "The U.S. said it must be within certain limits."
Joe Concha: "So apparently Team Biden went from warning Iran 'don't' attack Israel to 'sure, go ahead... just don't overdo it.'"

Wrong. This is SOP.
We literally did the same thing in Syria after the chemical bombing. Our military coordinated with Russia to ensure we fired rockets into nothing and no human casualties were at risk. This way Trump could say he responded and everyone avoided unnecessary escalation.
This is how you negate risk and everyone walks away with a perceived win. The US, Iran, and Israel all get to go home and pretend they won this time.

What exactly is your issue with allowing Iran to shoot rockets intentionally in a way to make them neutered, to avoid actual escalation with Iran in this conflict?

The issue is allowing a designated terror state to fire upon allies and the message it sends, especially when compiled with the other middle eastern failures over the last 3 years.

The US knew, Israel knew, Saudis knew, Jordanians knew, the stock market knew. This is not breaking news.
Israel broke international law (regardless of claims it was a military target), and everyone knew and expected a reprisal (some are even saying that Bibi wanted Iran to strike back to shift the narrative from Gaza and allow a broader reprisal against Iran).

The message was the one literally every stakeholder involved in the conflict or the region wanted.
Iran had to save face. The options were virtue signaling or actual escalation.
