Zechariah 14
New American Standard Bible

God Will Battle Jerusalem’s Enemies

14 Behold, a day is coming for the Lord when the spoils taken from you will be divided among you. 2 For I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle, and the city will be taken, the houses plundered, the women raped, and half of the city exiled, but the rest of the people will not be eliminated from the city. 3 Then the Lord will go forth and fight against those nations, as [a]when He fights on a day of battle.

This is not a political thread.

But if we are talking Religion, I would like to talk about why Martin Luther removed books from the Bible that were in the Bible when Christ walked the Earth.

Here's more about why the Protestant Bible is not the whole Bible.

How can you follow sola scriptura if you're not even reading the whole Bible?

The website I linked refutes those points made by that speaker.

I encourage everyone to research the issue. Read the arguments on both sides.

The Christian Church accepted Luther's deleted books as part of Holy Scripture for over 1,500 years. The New Testament itself quotes from the Septuagint version of the Bible, which includes Luther's deleted books.

Wrong board. Did you get a special waiver that says you are privileged and don't have to follow the rules on here?

Until the day the prophet Zechariah spoke about, I wish the Lord would zap all of the dems and liberals with the plagues of Egypt.

The events we are seeing play out in the world today are definitely biblical in nature.

Just curious... how did you get approval to make your 98th post? Did not know you needed permission...

Though I agree with your concept, Z 14 is probably speaking of the Babylonian destruction of Jerusalem and then the Jews ultimate victory.

Another piece of evidence against Christie’s claim that divine revelation ceased during the time of the deuterocanonical books is that the people of Jesus’ time believed there were contemporary prophets who spoke on behalf of God, such as John the Baptist and Jesus.

This makes no sense to me at all...

with the fact that the Apocrypha was not considered part of the Old Testament Bible by the Jewish people. They were not kept alongside the rest of the Bible by the keepers of the Law in Israel during the time of Jesus. They also didn’t call them the Bible. As a result, the Apocrypha was not included in the Hebrew Old Testament read by Jews.

The books were known to the Jews, who read them. They just accepted them as historical facts rather than divine Scripture. This stance does not seem to have altered. Because they are Old Testament literature.

I believe the Bible because it is a reliable collection of historical documents written down by eyewitnesses during the lifetime of other eyewitnesses. They report to us supernatural events that took place in fulfillment of specific prophecy and claim that their writings are divine rather than human in origin.

That’s pretty rich knowing how many books have been thrown out and how much has been interpreted incorrectly from the Hebrew and Greek texts. You think the English version on your bedside table is infallible? Better to not die on that hill and instead glean the lessons and discern the path to salvation without debating how many angels can dance on the head of the pin. That’s just my opinion, though. You do you.
