The crazy nasty SJW on my NextDoor feed has come out in support of St George. Holy shite, our mayor and North Baton Rouge have even alienated some within the shrill white woman racistsexisthomophobic crowd.

Observer. Just because you are on the wrong side of the fence doesn't mean I want to fight you. At the end of the day, I am going to live my life and probably never meet you. Social media doesn't run my life; I only check when I am bored mostly.

If you property taxes go up, it is because the people living in YOUR tax district vote for them.
Your basis of I should vote in another district election because it "could" affect me is silly. Should Louisiana people vote in Texas elections concerning giving tax breaks to oil companies because, if passed, these oil companies might leave Louisiana for Texas? Nope. Not how it works. It applies here also.
If the remaining parts of the City of Baton Rouge would require more tax revenue, there would be an election and THAT is the place to make your voice heard.

And there is the real motivation.
People have tried to work "with the system" for decades. Nothing has changed. We spend more per student now in EBR (inflation adjusted) than 20-30 years ago and test scores continue to drop. People are tired. We have lost 1-2 generation of students in EBR.
Wonder why the social-economic demographics suck still? I know the cool thing now is to blame racism, slavery, white privilege, and all the other vogue code words, but it comes down to lack of accountability in the system for decades. Those in power have not changed the fundamentals of how they conduct business. It would mean a loss of power and money to them.
Hope and Change brother. Tired of hoping. Time to change. If St. George does not break away, change will still happen. That change will be the migration of people and business away from Baton Rouge over time.
Wanna see the future without St. George? Hello Detroit. The moment the petrol-chemical plants are gone (like the automakers)......and they will leave one day....and sooner than you think....it is over for BTR.
