It seems the will of the people is no longer important, only the will of the ruling class. First they told StG to get 12,000 signatures so they bring 15,000. BR says-nope, not enough--you need 1500 more. So StG brings another 5000. BR says--sorry, you're still 79 signatures short.

So StG regroups and brings nearly 18,000 the next time and finally gets it verified. Does JBE allow the vote? of course not.

Now, there's a bill introduced to allow the entire parish to vote on it, not just the incorporated area. They just don't stop.

You don't change rules in the middle of a game. This is a disgusting act of putting the will of the people at the back of the line.

my property taxes will in all likelihood increase if SG happens, even living in Baton Rouge. why should i not be allowed to vote on this parish issue?

I'm sorry the people you sponge off of no longer want to subsidize your lifestyle.

I'm somewhat indifferent on St. George but you said it perfectly. Shitty move by the mayor here. This will backfire on her and only re-energize the St. George movement.

That seems to be the offshoot of your personal decisions.

Because that's not how the law is written and you don't change the law to benefit you at your every whim.

now that the mall the casino the medical district and perkins rowe have been taken from the new city, i'm fine with it.

i'm making a point. the tax increase will be inconsequential for my upper-middle class self. i'm trying to explain why people in the parish that aren't as well off as i am, think they should have a voice.

They didn't request a statewide vote

Also, why change the law for only one parish if they believe your argument? Why should EBR be the only parish who receives this protection

That's an issue for your parish, not SG
