What I hate about all of this "news" re drones is that it makes our response to this threat seem like we are lost and have no clue how to counter it. So instead of showing our hand and shooting down the drones with whatever tech we have, we go tell the press what happened.

I can only imagine what they are setting us up for next. There will be an ask, and I am pretty sure we will not like it.

resistance to jamming

This implies that jamming was attempted and wasn't entirely successful.

Off the top of my head I'd say that it would be expensive to train the folks to use that type of tech.

How much does a fighter cost? 10 fighters? Remember the Russian planes taken out by drones near Ukraine? Might be wise to head off shite like that here.

All signs to me point to they are in fact “Ours”. For five days you mean to tell me drones flew at will over our nuclear bomber fleet, with no trace of where they went? On day three we didn’t have counter drones to counter surveill/chase these? No reaper drones up over barksdale to track? Yea this is black budget tech the USA is testing out.

It’s our tech. The administration has been saying multiple times that we have stuff we’ve never used before that no one has and it will be used.

But they just went away, we didn't shoot any of them down, and we don't know anything about them or the owners.

Well, it's not like an unknown balloon flying all over America at will

Or to put it more simply..............it would be very easy for a few Muslims to take out our B52s with small explosives from cheap drones. And then the generals would be screaming "We gotta do something about that!!!"

Total incompetence.

The Department of War has almost a billion dollar budget, I bet the could afford the training.
I'm surprised this hasn't already been considered and some type of defense isn't in place. THAT'S SCARY.

The billions in spending is wasteful to a degree that’s difficult to convey like explaining just how much a trillion dollars is.

The reality is our procurement process is corrupt, inept, wasteful, politically interfered with and we are well behind technologically where we should be if someone like Elon were running it like a business.

Meanwhile Ukraine-Russia is WW1 with drones where no one can advance without insane amounts of ordinance being spent and the future is clearly with drone swarms and robotic warfare that we are being left in the dust by China on at least based on publicly disclosed information.
