My neighbor spent years on the Bham PD before he became a lawyer. He does pretty well defending people.

If we would break out the number of hours that most lawyers work with their annual salary, I'll bet that we'd find that more than half of them don't have a very impressive hourly wage.

I'll bet that my hourly salary of $11.25 per hour from my Teamster days would be competitive with at least some lawyers.

Maybe some real practicing lawyers can provide more insight.

HOWEVER, all it takes is for you to hit one Lucky Strike with a personal injury case to make your year as a lawyer.

This I understand.

This I don't understand. One day you're putting people in jail, one test and a day later you're trying to get them out of jail.

Doesn't sound like a person of personal conviction to me.

Performing one's duty to provide counsel and see to it that an accused's rights are protected. And, if in the course of doing so, determine that the police got the wrong dude OR violated constitutional rights...perhaps get client "out of jail".

Police officers, prosecutors, AND defense attorneys are VITAL for a free and open system of laws.

I appreciate each and can see a person occupying all three "seats" within his / her career and doing so with utmost character and personal conviction.
