Isn't the whole point to try hard and work hard, so you can give the next generation something better than you had??

Sure... any sane person would want that. So what did the Boomers give us that's better? Debt... Clinton, Bush Jr., Obama... Inner city messes.. Both parents working... Debt... Feminism... Massive government... GOD kicked out of schools... Globalism... Debt... New Babylon... Homosexuality as normal... 500,000 laws, rules, and regulations... Debt...

Help me out here with what's better.

Or are you so damn ate up with a self centered, egocentric, ethnocentric ideal that you are just too selfish, close minded and willing to let your own blood be damned??

Ummm... you're talking about the Bommers here.

Why the hatred?? Why the hostility?? Seems a bit unnecessary when the alternative is love and success

Again... you're talking about the Boomers. In this thread alone I've received a "frick You" and "Youre a jackass" by 60-70 year olds acting like 6-7 year olds.

That's where you veered off of what we should do. My parent's generation would hope to provide my generation the love, education and work ethic to do more than they were able to accomplish. My generation would hope to provide education, love, caring, jump start or whatever to get them to exceed what we did; but "giving them" is the problem that is going to bring the country down.

I read that statement from a macro standpoint. As a better nation/world, not personal gifts. If personal gifts was his/her meaning, I agree with you. Too much giving and not enough earning.

My father hates me and my Mom is poor. I get zero inheritance. Maybe a last arrow from my Dad or something.

It's plain to see that this country has lost its way(within a moral framework)... regardless of religious and political differences, we do have things in common such as the hope for a peaceful life, common courtesy towards each other and prosperity amongst all

the belief that if one works hard enough, they can establish a lifestyle for themselves with security and prosperity for their future generations has seem to have fallen on deaf or uninterested ears... as a country, we need to be beating this drum constantly, IMO!!

Blaming others for their faults may make us feel better, but it doesn't absolve us from our own duty to each other

Yes, there are evil people looking to do evil things to the masses at large, but sometimes, we have to hold our noses and vote for the lesser of two evils i.e. Edwards v Duke... and as adults we have to deal with those consequences

This world isn't perfect... people aren't perfect, but we have to strive to do our best for ourselves and others

I am shocked they can grow a fricking beard lacking testosterone and their pansy ways! ?

Was at breakfast this morning and heard one yammering on about his cat. Looked over and he had an afro attached to his face.

And then it hit me why all these betas are growing beards. It's the only way they will ever have a pussy near their face.

Well said and I agree...

However, this thread was started, and immediately supported, by Boomers tooting their own horn about their wealth and future so-called "gift".

Myself and others politely called them out on that fairytale and shared a much different/realist viewpoint. Our resident Boomers got their feelings hurt by spreading their own rose-colored crap.

Just keepin it real my friend...

I don't disagree that the issue of entitlement is a large and problematic issue... it's a huge problem that must be tackled

People thinking they are owed something for nothing is causing a huge trainwreck and it is blatantly obvious to anyone with open eyes.. as I'm sure you would agree

Kind of to your point, is that the same jump start you desire for yours is the same jump start I desire for mine and the same our grandparets desired for us....

but the jump start you provide may not be equal to the jump start I provide (for better or worse)

Soon enough jealousy can and will arise... the calls of inequity will arise... then the calls of injustice ...then the calls of equity... then the calls of equal distribution... then the calls of forced equality

And IMO, here we are.. a greedy, selfish, egocentric nation... always with out hand out... asking more and more from our country, and less and less from ourselves

Not asking what we can do for our country, but what our country can do for us... less self determination and less self reliance, and more self pity and selfishness

GenX, Millenials, and Z's weren't raised by parents. They were raised by Day Care and liberal public schools. Boomers created the lack of parenting.

I don't care about paying the debt down, because it has no effect on my day to day life, but I blame boomers for about 99% of society's problems.

As I read this thread, I can't help but try to understand both arguments and make reasonable sense of the issue... yes, I responded to you with issues I wanted to raise, not because of your posts, but of the whole issue at large

I know Boomers are under assault by younger generations for perceived faults they they may use as a crutch or a reason for their own failures and successes... again, resolve and self reliance is a massive player in the real world establishment of self determination, self sufficiency and growth

I don't think anybody with any sense of reality would charge one generation with the faults of the next(In modern US history).. that would be disingenuous at best and psychotic at worst...

I feel our country and its people have lost their way entirely in most aspects of life... it's sad really...

We can do WAY better for each other and for future generations if we really and I mean REALLY tried

I'm not trying to respond negatively to anyone in this thread, just trying to get my ideas across without sounding like a big dummy

So, cheers to you all

Would rather it just pass from my parents to my kids..... as I would hope to be well in to my retirement age when they pass.

This. My kids will be set up. My parents are only 16 yo than me. They're at the end of the baby boom era and I was born more toward the beginning of Gen X. 57 and 73. By the time they pass, I'll be old and won't need it.

So Babyboomers are taking credit for their parents sexual exploits?

It’s just a numbers game. Of course, the largest generation ever will pass the most wealth down ever when they die.

And GenXers and Millennials will gladly accept it no matter how much they despise their parents generation. That's the beauty of the argument.
