There's a better than 50-50 chance that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell would vote to convict President Trump in an impeachment trial, sources tell Axios.

What they're saying: "The Senate institutional loyalists are fomenting a counterrevolution" to Trump, said a top Republican close to McConnell.

Why it matters: This would represent one of the most shocking and damning votes in the history of American politics, by the most powerful Republican in Congress.

That’s what one would call scorched earth and Mitch doesn’t know how that would play out long term. Hint it would be brutal socially.

If this happens I would forever vote 3rd party or democrat going forward.

The Republican snakes are betting on the fact that we will still fall in line and vote Republican in the end because we are voting against the democrat more than for the Republican. We can't play that game anymore, the more we play that game, the more we get antics like this.

Unless you realize that Trump was not a Republican. Rather, he was a fraudulent cult of personality out for one thing and one thing only. Trump.

Yes!

This will hasten the death of the Republican Party.

Then we can bring about a new, better, real party.

One day my kids will be asking where the GOP went.

I’ll have to tell them that a turtle was shoveling shite in a rancid swamp.

Yeah, not going to waste my time going vote anymore, it won’t matter, and even if it did, screw all those republicans.

I buy it.

If the Republicans let Trump hang around, then that means he will be a roadblock to whatever roadmap they try to construct for 2022 and 2024 to get their handpicked establishment stooges nominated for house seats, senate seats, and the presidential nomination.

If Trump is still around, their plan to ram Nikki Haley down our throats will be very difficult. They believe if they impeach him, then it raises their chances of being able to shove Nikki down our throats because they are betting on more right leaning voters being disgusted by Trump for being impeached, than backing Trump despite him being impeached.

They are betting on the fact that impeachment will lead a new wave of orange man bad amongst right leaning Trump supporters who will then be more willing to accept the alternative presented to us by the GOPe.

If this happens there will be no republican party. Millions would leave. Millions have already left, maybe not according to the voting records.
I would expect many recall petitions to circulate, and hopefully recall these traitorous republicans and dimms.

I will sit out or vote libertarian before voting for a neocon/GOPe stooge like Rubio or Haley. Best candidates for 2024 are DeSantis (head and shoulders above), Hawley, Paul, and Noem.

It’s not enough for the Republican Party to be a permanent minority party.

The Republican Party must be obliterated.

It’s well on it’s way.

Something like this will get us there much faster.

I say do it.

Hannity said he spoke to a McConnell right before his show tonight and the aide said the story is bullshite. Same with Kevin McCarthy.
