I just want a 911 Turbo with an American 8.0L V8.
no. you do t.
A 7.0L LS V8 generally weighs less than the engine is replacing in a 911. Quite a lot less than the Turbo engine.

both bmw and mercedes build about half their world wide production in south carolina and alabama,
Not even close. 17.6% of BMW's production of completed vehicles is in SC.
Merc is probably similar.
No manufacturer of scale builds half their production out of one plant.

Plenty of guys have done LS swaps in 911s. Google is your friend.
I'll give you a hint; You don't replace the transaxle.

I'm just hoping that Toyota can un-frick their Tundra motors so that I can go buy one.

Any time you want to discuss roll center and how it moves as the suspension goes through bump and rebound let me know.
Feel free to tell the class how the yaw axis is impacted while you are at it.

Today, Trump introduced a 25% tariff on ALL vehicles not made in the United States. This tariff will go into effect on April 2nd. About 40% of all new cars sold in the US are imported, so this tariff is a big deal.
This is a breakdown of where cars sold in the US are made:
• Tesla: 100% U.S.
• Ford: 77% U.S., 21% Canada & Mexico, 2% Other
• Stellantis: 57% U.S., 39% Canada & Mexico, 4% Other
• Nissan: 52% U.S., 31% Canada & Mexico, 17% Other
• GM: 52% U.S., 30% Canada & Mexico, 18% Other
• Toyota: 48% U.S., 27% Canada & Mexico, 25% Other
• Kia: 33% U.S., 8% Canada & Mexico, 59% Other
• Volkswagen: 21% U.S., 43% Canada & Mexico, 36% Other
If the 25% tariff remains in place for a long period, legacy automakers will struggle to adapt quickly, leading to a significant decline in profits. The United States is the most profitable country for the auto industry. Trump said this new tariff will be permanent, so it will be interesting to see how this plays out and whether the tariff sticks around or not.

With engines and transmissions from Germany. BMW for the most part anyway. Not sure on Merc. He just made a comment that would imply those parts would be tariffed.
I guess it depends on what made in the us means?
Every part? Or the vehicle is put together here?

President Trump made good on his promise to impose tariffs on foreign automakers, imposing 25% duties on all cars and light trucks not made in the United States.

It includes the supply chain.
BMW engines and transmissions, and any other imported parts, from Germany will have a 25% tariff put on them as far as what has been reported thus far.

Not really how this works. There will be shortages of cars for a decent price
Maybe you should point the finger where belongs…. at Obama’s “Cash for Clunkers” scheme. That one program took a significant number of cars off the market that was at a decent price

Never saw the point in buying one. They're good for a few years then turn into a rolling POS where parts cost a fortune.

IYKYK what happens when you the front and rear roll centers outta whack on any 911 platform. I could see it working if you make it carolina squat. Hell, there are some tracks I’d put a snow plow in the front if I could with a spec setup.

Its a half truth. The downside of the quotas accelerated the Japanese auto industry.
No it was the whole truth. There in fact was 100k jobs created. That is not counting the support jobs that supported the transportation of materials, the businesses that provided for the additional workers whether it be goods or services. When you talk about additional employees it is 1.5 to 1. The support whether it be a 7/11 or a Pizza Hut or an accountant to do taxes. 100k actually means 150k or more.

There is a CA company that is taking classic cars like Camaros and Dodge muscle cars and making them electric.
Maddening.
