Made me tear up. If I had been at the game and they sang that while the eagle was flying I would have lost it probably.

I am unfamiliar with this veterans being able to salute in plain clothes. When did this occur?

I believe they started to allow this after 9/11. Or at least sometime during Bush Jr’s time In office. I remember Congress authorized it.

As an enlisted person in the 90s we were told it was improper to salute when not in uniform.

ETA: Thanks to The Fonz. I was unaware it had changed.

Now get off my lawn.

It was great seeing a video of so many singing heart felt patriot songs. With all of the subversive "progressives" from the hate America first set in government, media and on campuses, it is a breath of fresh air.

I'd love to see this happen at all SEC games and beyond.

I sent the link to an old email group with many veterans. It brightened their day and gave a ray of hope.

Music critic Jody Rosen says that a 1906 Jewish dialect novelty song, "When Mose with His Nose Leads the Band," contains a six-note fragment that is "instantly recognizable as the opening strains of 'God Bless America'".

Few people remember that incident.

It is now approved.

I've been doing it for years.

”God Bless America” (“GBA”) is a great song, but the hand-over-heart salute is only applicable to the National Anthem, per the Flag Code. GBA is just a pop song from the 1930s. You may as well salute during Lee Greenwood.

I know I can do it, but it seems easier just to remove my hat and cross my heart.

Damnit Auburn!! I LOVE IT! I’m experiencing a moment of cognitive dissonance.. I’ll get over myself and send out a well-deserved War Eagle!
