SDVTiger has to be a paid troll

I thought SDVTiger was a fishing boat captain. If I got that wrong I apologize.

It seems his short one liner posts are the kind of posts you make from your smart phone while literally trolling.

Bots/shills/etc. is probably the most overplayed topic on this board, TBH

We occasionally have someone who comes with a contrarian viewpoint and spams the board and then they're gone soon after.

I just don't think this is a type of place where a) you can get the benefit of a volume of shills to reinforce concepts like you can on Reddit or X and b) most of the contrarian positions here just aren't that persuasive and don't really move much of the needle. I don't think it's fertile ground or format for what people often claim is happening.

If on a random Tuesday you had a dozen coyly presented pro-Israel, why Trump needs to intervene in Iran threads by fairly new posters, sure. But that doesn't really happen. We have a handful of the same lefties saying their usual stuff - I highly doubt anyone is paying them for it.
.

I've always argued if there is more "paid" content it's pro-MAGA stuff, not anti-MAGA stuff. And I put it in quotations b/c I'm not limiting it to someone paid to make posts. I am expanding into people steering others to their money-making content avenues (X, etc.). You can divert a LOT of eyeballs to otherwise nothing accounts via posting on here.

Now, they might be trolling you guys, but that's different

I have a few theories about this.

But I mean trolls promoting pro-MAGA messaging, making people agree to ridiculous and insane stuff.

There have been threads doing this as far back as when there was only the Tiger Rant and they were having discussions about Matt Mauck

No he's just a pro-MAGA guy without settled principles who thinks he's "owning the libs"

When real estate is discussed you can see a more measured, serious commentary which should indicate where he makes his money

For my first suspension a mod accused me of being paid to post here.

Right. Logically, Catturd tweets are posted here pretty constantly. It would make more sense that stout is a paid shill for peddling his content here daily than one of the non-MAGA posters.

Really? You've been here forever. How long ago was this? Interesting.

Pretty confident that the most prominent and prolific of the prog posters on this site aren't just organically as idiotic as they appear.

No, I think that they genuinely are.

The fake ones, those are the ones that disappear from the chat after making statements and having their narrative destroyed by fact. They don't post in other threads except for on the OT in the Ukraine War thread or when other topics on societal issues pop up.

See a name you're not familiar with? Just click on it and look at their post history, and what/where they post. It becomes easy to distinguish the shills from the morons.

Now myself? I'm definitely not "prominent" though I have a pretty high post count. But I'm not here to try and stand out. I wish I was getting paid for all these posts, but unfortunately I still have to spend my time under a welding hood to make ends meet.

I don't doubt that at all, it's nice to see that you admit that derailing happens.
I also find it amazing that a thread like this sends out the "bat signal."
It took no less than a few minutes for all of the usual suspects to show up.

No argument here - maybe the paid shills on here are bargain basement of the paid shill hierarchy

5 years ago. Followed by two additional suspensions for things that definitely are not violations of the written rules of this site. They can certainly do as they please it’s their site. I just want to know how I can stay within the lines, wherever they are set.

You must have posted something really provocative that upset one of them. Mods will send me messages telling me to rein in my posting behavior from time or time, or will move a thread I start to a different board but the benevolent mods don't ban me.

This is so fascinating. I thought you were in!

Well yeah it's usually triggered by an irrelevant metaphor/question line or a straw man, which creates the need to go back to square one and get into semantics to eliminate those digressions.

Bad rhetoric leads to a need for clarification of the discussion, to summarize.

People have been primed/trained to engage in bad rhetoric b/c of lesser discussion avenues (like X, Reddit, Facebook comments, etc.) and they resist being taught what they consider proper is poor form.

I'd hope that there ARE resources being spent by the MAGA side on promoting truth to counter all the fake news.

The difference with the paid prog shills is that in order to keep posting retarded posts, you have to be either paid or retarded (maybe both)

Honestly I think I posted something entirely innocuous about a bad experience I had at a Chick Filet (which was a 100% true and had just recently happened to me). That’s when the PMs then suspensions started. I wasn’t posting any differently but it seems I earned a Five-Year Wrath for that. Hoping it’s all water under the bridge now. :crossingfingers:
