When a senior Flag Officer can't align his Vision with the Vision of the Commander in Chief, it is time for that Flag Officer to go home to his wife.
I realize that for most of these Flag Officers that this is a Fate Worse Than Death, but, it is in the best interests of the United States for them to go home to Mama.
What a kick in the head! One day you are feted, praised and spoiled - waited on hand and foot - you even have your own private Chauffeur! --
You go from THAT lifestyle back home to Mama and: "Here's your Chore List, honey and could you please empty the garbage can now, please?"
These guys try to hang around forever because it's good for THEM not because it's in the best interests of the USA.
