That being sad, Trump would be doing it in US interest whereas Kerry was not so i don't know if Trump's would be a violation of the Logan Act.

These same people you mention were fine with Kerry negotiating back door deals with Iran during Trump's first term.

My comment doesn't have anything to do with what Putin would accept.
My comment is addressing the abject absurdity in suggesting that the United States could or should make commitments to Russia concerning the foreign policy decisions of other, sovereign nations.
It isn't any more our place to tell Estonia that it cannot be a part of NATO because Russia really doesn't want it to than it is for Russia to demand that it be able to control the policy of every nation that has ever been administered from Moscow.
Its a completely absurd premise.

Turkey has been holding negotiations the entire time. If Ukraine and Russia could come to an agreed cease-fire, it would have happened by now.
