Child care is also an issue for poor people.

According to a Judge in the 80's. It's worth 1/4 of your paycheck... and I was poor then too...

Now I wish that I had kids so the government would mail me money and the kids could mow my lawn..

At my local grocery store the only thing I really noticed not having that I needed and normally but was bagged salad.

Same here. No shredded lettuce for a couple of weeks.

Yes.. I believe that we will see breaks in our supply chains of all products.

I saw Brahms say no 32 and 44 cups.. Wendy's had closed due to no help.

Grocery store shelves are showing signs of emptiness just as ammo shelves in the sporting goods store.

I personally have come to believe that we reached the point of franchise chains that we lost the sense of America.

Fast foods vs. Markets,,, We are over saturated with fast food. Need Mom, Pop, Family places... And MArkets to buy, not just high volume wal-mart.

I fear you are describing an America that will never return. It is too bad my grandchildren won't get to live in that world.

These shortages can be best adressed by transitioning to cooperative ownership of agricultural production and cooperative sales units. The Kolhoz-Sovhoz system will better provide for needed jobs and reduce the need for illegal immigration.

It’s not going to get any better anytime soon .democrats are shorting our food supply. They are pushing Covid restrictions , worker shortage and inflation . If the vaccine mandate gets informed things will get a lot worse. Prices will go up because companies will have to pay penalties to keep the doors open.

Another problem I can't quite grasp ....trucker shortage.
Where in the hell did the truckers go during the lockdown? They weren't locked down ....what happened?

The trucker shortage started prior to COVID. It has more to do with the younger generations not wanting to do that type of work. As the boomers continue to age and many have left their driving jobs, many of those are not being filled.

I work in transportation planning, and we have a hell of a time finding drivers to do local runs where they are still home every day. Those guys make more than most of the salaried people as well. Just not as many people wanting to drive these days.

I went to Costco today on Airline and besides not having my tuna steaks till Friday's truck shipment comes in, there were stacked shelves and produce everywhere. Maybe Costco's an outlier because it's been months since I've been in an actual grocery store.

Costco pays their vendors a premium which is why they get top priority from their vendors and rarely have supply chain issues.

One thing I’ve noticed, here in middle TN we have very little issues with natural disasters. Most people here have never lived through hurricanes, tornadoes, snowstorms, etc... I’ve got two freezers in the garage and a tri fuel generator. many of my friends called me a “prepper” saying I was overboard with supplies.

I’d say since covid about half of them now own at least a small generator and have a fridge/freezer combo in their garage as well.

The weird thing is that it seems to be getting worse the further we go.

Restaurants and gas stations are changing hours. There’s a Panera in the area that isn’t opening until 11 AM now. Probably half the restaurants have temporary hours of operation.

Maybe a third of the gas stations are closing at midnight. These were all open 24 hours even a year ago.

To be fair, this is not that bad a thing for a country as obese as we are.

Literally, one of the most sophomoric statements I’ve read in years.
Food shortages are 100% bad.
The obese just get to survive a little longer.

I thought this is just a local problem from Hurricane Ida. Is this a national phenomenon?

All of my small local stores are well stocked around old goodwood. I never shop chain stores. Only use Costco for gas and household products.

Its going to get worst so stock up.

It would never happen but we need to go back to doling out gov't cheese out of the trucks along with dried beans, etc to make it unpleasant so they want to go back to work to pay for the carts full of crab legs that we provide them now with the EBD card.
