Was reading some of Bernie's plans and they sound like something straight out of 1952 Soviet Russia.

If Bernie wins the nomination, will you vote for him?

If the choice is one between socialism and free market capitalism, no.
If the choice is between socialism and monopolistic state capitalism, the answer is less clear. The latter model is closer to outright communism than the former, it’s just that state ownership of capital is limited so the five year plans are outsourced. But state control of capital is unlimited.
I think I would rather see a system with socialist tax rates and aggressive implementation of antitrust law than one with socialist tax rates and state capitalism.

'Wasn't tarzana pretty out there? I'll apologize in advance if I'm wrong on that one.
We definitely don't have as many as some on this board would have you believe.

I’ve got a good friend who posts here who is a Bernie fan. What I surmise from him is that “socialism implemented perfectly would be perfect”.
However he is also a realist and laughs off a good number of the socialist platforms because in the end he’s pragmatic and knows shite like the Green New Deal is a pandering tactic and impossible to implement.
Also, he's reasonable to discuss these things with. Today all we ever see is how bad either the left or right is. It’s nice to be able to bridge that gap.

There are 3 classes of people on this board who truly believe in socialism.
The "Democrats" - these are the run of the mill liberals on this board. They believe in socialism, are very willing to get there slowly bit by bit, and use terms like "Democratic Socialism"
The "Fake Libertarians/Conservatives" - These are just like the ones above, but they really believe that pretending they are something that they are not gives credibility to their stance (which is the goal).
The "Nutjobs" - These are the guys who are openly unabashedly communist/socialist. They have given up on rising to the top themselves. To them, it's seems easier to implement a government controlled economy.

In theory it should lift all boats to make a more harmonious society.
Can it ever be implemented by humans in that way? Absolutely not.

I'll defend the 'mercy' that is (supposedly) the First Principle of Socialism. The Good Lord charged His Church to commit to caring for their 'weaker brethren'...if we hope for the same Mercy.
But Jesus' Mercy is QUALIFIED, and so should any form of Systematic Mercy (I.e., Socialist/Marxist, Egalitarian Ideology) be. Lest it be found subsidizing the very character (or lack of) traits that will destroy all concerned. "Behold, there is a way that seemeth right unto man, but the end thereof is destruction". Unqualified mercy is bs.

There are a lot of losers and soyboys on this site who would love socialism.
Posted on 1/24/20 at 7:27 am to Mando
There are plenty. They are easy to spot as they always claim to be “libertarian”.
Posted on 1/24/20 at 7:37 am to Mando
Yeah, frick that shite... I'll take Liberty.
