What point can the fetus survive outside the womb without aid (outside of nursing)?

At what point in development can you cut the fetus out, and it's breathing on its own. It's organs are completely formed, it doesn't need any medical treatment. Just someone to feed it, keep it warm, and change its diaper?

A 1 year old isn't completely formed with no need for medical treatment.

On the first page of this thread:

-kill all the poors (x2)
-abortion is wrong because it's killing a human being but I don't care as long as I'm not paying for it
-abortion is wrong because it's killing a human being but if at came as a result of rape then it's ok to kill the human being
-I don't have a lot of empathy for humanity/people <---actual psychopath

Most 1 year old's don't need to be hooked up to machines to stay alive. I think that was the point the other person was trying to make.

Viability has no place in the debate in my opinion. Viability will constantly change as science advances, and we should not be basing abortions on whether a child can survive outside the womb. I am pro-life and I believe that it is life from the moment of conception. At that point, in my opinion, no one has the right to terminate life.

My personal viewpoint aside, this is an issue for each State to decide based on the legislators elected by the State's population. Why should it be based on a decision by nine individuals? What interest does the Federal government have? All rights are reserved to the states except those expressly granted. Where was the authority to enforce a woman's right to an abortion expressly granted?

What made you change your mind in the last 5 hours?

You going to try to wiggle out this? Or own it?

To be clear, I am pro life. I just agree with Breesus' point about using a developmental stage as either a legal or moral for when an abortion should be considered "right." I believe that life is life and that to carry out and/or condone the destruction of innocent life is immoral and unethical. It makes no difference to me whether the life in question is a 3 week-old fetus, an 8 month old fetus, or a 1 year-old child.

Words are hard.

Show me where I said that was my decision for anyone else or made even the suggestion that I wanted legislation to impose that on anyone.

I'll wait. You can have the same 5 hours if you need it.

Do you have a kid? Did you bring him to the doctor the first year of his life. Did you ever smush through that soft spot in his head with your thumb?
