Are any of my friends on the left still happy to mock Mike Pence?

the VP caught a lot of flack for his personal policy to not be alone in a room with ANY woman that is not his wife

he was mocked brutally

THIS ARTICLE from the New Yorker actually defines his policy as an attempt to prevent women from getting ahead

seems to me that in this environment of "guilty until proven innocent" that Pence's stance may well become the accepted policy of ALL public officials

we all see the game, if you are a conservative; sexual allegations get traction in the media, even if they are obviously politically motivated (Roy Moore); but accusations against leftist & liberals are brushed aside (Al Franken/Bill Clinton)

seems to me that Pence has been wise with his decisions...

I have a minister friend who employs the same policy. He is never alone with a woman who isn't his wife.

Stay above reproach and survive.

Unless you are with that person at all times how do you know whether they really abide by it or if they simply claim to?

Also, a lot of people go talk to their pastor seeking guidance about private life issues. I would say that if that pastor refused to talk privately to females that would prevent him from doing his job.

Clinton's episode was from a different time.

If the same thing would have happened today Clinton would have been roasted, and either would have resigned (more likely) or have been forced out.

so, why not confide in a woman counselor within the church?

do females not warrant consideration for being trusted confidants?

thanks for admitting you are a sexist that does not think women should get ahead

I’ve been a career government worker ( LEO). I figured this out 25 years ago. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen women officers destroy male officers careers in order to get advancement. All it takes is a complaint. The men are immediately guilty.

If I was a minister, I wouldn't be alone with children either. Of either sex.

The sad part of this, I remember living in that time when this wasn't necessary.

The women in his congregation know and accept his policy. He has female staff councilors who can either sit in on the consultation or can conduct it own their own. It's the woman's choice.

No one has ever taken issue with the policy.

and the accusations against Moore are from way before that "different time"

and they came out at the 11th hour during a race that has much to do with the balance of power in DC

serious question - does it make you dizzy with your head spinning and talking out of both sides of your mouth?

That isn't what he said though. He said he wouldn't eat dinner or meal with a woman who wasn't his wife and wouldn't go to a party with lots of alcohol without his wife.

That leaves a lot of room.

As for counseling a troubled woman one on one, it is a good idea to have a witness there. But he never said that as far as I am aware.

I would hope so.

The vast majority of my infidelity has been a direct result of being alone in an elevator with a woman.

Women, just like children can seek counsel in private areas that are still in open view of others. I have several pastoral friends and they all have a policy of never being alone with a woman or a child. Alone as in out of sight. There are enough glass enclosed areas of most churches that is works fine.

In an age where everything can be recorded and transcribed, man up and do business with men and women.

Its a weak man who hides behind fake honor when you can absolutely prove what was done and said.
