quote:The application is not my standard. The standard of God's giving value to humanity based on us being His image-bearers, is.
God, who ordered David to kill so many people and then was told that he couldn’t build the Temple because he had too much blood on his hands.
This is the standard???
BTW, God has the right to take the lives of those who have sinned and been given the death penalty (all of us). We have no authority to take life except when granted such authority by God in certain circumstances.

quote:Define "highly producing". It could be that you have an inflated sense of self-worth.
equal value to the highly producing
Society is "highly producing". Very few individuals are; to a degree that is noticeable.
quote:
Non human animals cull their own, so why are humans exempt from nature’s ethology?
Because humans have the capacity for science and medicine that benefit society. If you disavow that in favor of "culling" then you should just commit suicide at 35 so as to not receive those benefits either.

But we need to break from the capricious example of Jehovah who thought six milliion Jews and another 8 million political prisoners in Nazi occupation camps was ok.

As TrueTiger said, it’s done every day in courts.

quote:That example flies in the face of what I already said. There is no authority from God to arbitrarily round up other image-bearers and torture and kill them simply for being different from you. That is not within the mandate that God has provided to the civil magistrate and God will judge harshly anyone who does that sort of thing.
But we need to break from the capricious example of Jehovah who thought six milliion Jews and another 8 million political prisoners in Nazi occupation camps was ok.
Just because God can take lives as He pleases doesn't mean we can.

Are all lives equally valuable?
Not to me. In fact the lives of left wingers hold no value at all to me.

Then what value does he add?
The dignity of human life, even if he chooses not to care about it himself.
Regardless of religion:
Every human being deserves the right to exist. Hence why abortion is so heinous. You are denying the right of another human being to come into existence.
Eugenics is Eugenics no matter who you apply it to, arse.
I value your life, even if you are choosing to be ignorant with it.

Well either all lives are equally valuable or they are not.
Many here have already noted that there are many methodologies with which to measure value.
That's why I said it depends on the one you use.
Some say equal, some say not.

no! my life is infinitely more valuable to me than your life is.
let me drop a truth bomb on you my man! every person on planet feels that way, they might not tell you that but they do.
the reason that people wrap themselves up in the injustices of people they don't know is because fixing their own lives is too overwhelming and it's much easier to pretend to be concerned about other people.
great case in point the kid in kenosha shot three people what were the odds of that all three would be convicted felons. Joseph rosenbaum convicted sexual predator, on the sexual offenders registry for life, unemployed and unemployable. you'd think joseph's own life would be enough to keep him busy.....but no he really cared about black lives his own life not so much.

Apparently all lives are not equally valuable. Israel banned cap pun a long time ago because life was valuable. Then they executed Adolph Eichman anyway because his life wasn't valuable.
