We have tens of millions of illegal invaders either in our country. What do you think?

Ok and there are multiple other laws they can use to deport them. So deport them under those laws and keep going until the SCOTUS rules on using that one. They can rule all they want, it doesn't mean it is going to stop.

Is Venezuela subject to the AUMF?

There IS precedent, sprinkled throughout our nation's history, for what Trump is trying to accomplish.
There is not. You're trying to create it by conflating unrelated topics.
Hell, there is barely any precedent in our nation's history for using this particular law. It's been used like 2-3x total, and IIRC, all involved actual wartime.

Did you read the title of this thread?

What does "can't" mean?

Ignore the ruling and continue to deport their asses anyway... I would like to see a court enforce their rulings...

Precedent is something that has happened, correct?
There is no "barely"... it either has, or hasn't.
War on Terror shows that "war" doesn't have to be against a sovereign nation.

The AUMF's expansive wording has been used to justify military operations in numerous countries over two decades.
Also, the Alien Enemies Act definitely applies... some argue in favor, some against- but it is what it is.

Then they will all be sent to your house for detention.........knowing how you love men and all.

Sure and I stated why those examples don't apply today (no war time)

That authorization doesn't apply to Venezuela, though, so, again, doesn't apply here.
There is no war time. They're using the "invasion" language, which has no precedents or history. That portion of the law has never been relied upon.

I'm for deportation of illegals. I'm just for doing it legally.

Not surprised. It was a very aggressive and novel use of that law. I thought the Court would strike this one down.
And that's ok. When you get aggressive and try novel ideas in prosecuting cases, sometimes it will work and sometimes it won't. At least you are trying.

He should ignore this ruling - American safety is above any court. He needs to increase the number and ramp things up. And he needs to start bombing other countries and drug runners like he did yesterday that should be an everyday occurrence all over the world. We should be bombing, China, Mexico, South America daily until they stop trying to kill us.

Actually... from what I googled, many of the applied uses are classified. So, who knows?
Next... the AUMF has been criticized for over two decades as essentially a blank check- with reason... I'm no legal scholar, but the fact that legal scholars find this to be murky ground, well, they know better than I.

Didja think that may very well be a part of the ramped up efforts (like blasting a boat) against the cartels?

In theory (but not in reality as I showed), that works for wartime, not invasion.

Narco-Terrorism and Islamic Terrorism go hand in hand.
We are still at "War on Terrorism"
quote:
Yes, the "War on Terror" continues in an altered form, even though the major combat operations in places like Afghanistan and Iraq have ended.
The campaign has evolved into ongoing global counterterrorism efforts, including military interventions, intelligence operations, financial disruption, and diplomatic efforts to prevent terrorism worldwide.
