My independent Baptists church teaches the gospel through-and-through without waiver. For US holidays, I think we are a little too patriotic in decoration and music, but the sermon is always God-focused and in Biblical context.

Listening to my pastor last Sunday was like listening to a mike dewine press conference. Needless to say we are looking for a new church. If the pastor is a pussy I’m out.

This is the kind of in-depth theological discussions that I come here for.

The basis for social justice is the New Testament. Read Jesus' teachings carefully. Jesus identified with the poor and downtrodden. He came to preach the Gospel to the poor.
Also, those acts of love were not intended to be forced on others. They were to be charitable and administrated by lay Christians, not forced by the government at the end of the sword.

This one has always bugged me. Voting for somebody to take others money at gunpoint does not make you charitable or a better person.
That being said, I can make biblical cases for and against both parties. Abortion is an irreconcilable difference for me, and will put me in the Republican camp for a while regrettably.

Overall, I feel like a lot of non-woke congregations are still being rather pandering. They're still theologically sound and Gospel-oriented, but they're bending to imagined pressure to make racial justice a forefront issue "during this time."
The wife and I just left our church after seven years because of this. The pastor randomly posted a lengthy Facebook rant in the days immediately following George Floyd, telling his white congregants that if we weren’t “actively trying to solve the problem”, we’re racist. We never went back and have since found another church that we’re getting plugged into.

Thanks. Our old Pastor used to say, “if you are having a hard time figuring out whether you are a man or a woman, after you get out of the shower, stand in front of a full length mirror. God will help you figure it put in just a lightening moment”. It was always funny and simple.
We have some in the church That want it watered down to excuse their conduct. But it ain’t happening in most of our churches. Communion is based on profession of faith, not a certain faith or church membership. God is good, all the time!

Bumping this because UMC is a lost cause at this point. Get out while you can or confirm your congregation is splitting from this stuff
UMC Promoting Toxic Radical Robin DiAngelo
Also, feel free to click around for a "no justice no peace" devotional, as well as writings on how "white silence is violence" and a bunch of other radical fringe nonsense that has nothing to do with Christianity.
