Instead of the Gospel? Anyone notice your private Christian schools are touting social justice and blm instead of teaching from the Bible?
Funny.. only happened at our Church in TN after the preacher came from Michigan and at our private school after the president came in from Cali.

I was church shopping, reading online sermons and noticed a complete SJW fabrication at a Lutheran church, pre-current conditions. It has been going on for quite a while.

I’ve noticed it with younger pastors in the Presbyterian Church of America and affiliated organizations like RUF, in spots. I’ve frankly been pretty surprised by what I’ve seen.

The Southern Baptist Church nations leadership has been pretty woke here lately. I’ve got family that sees a split coming.

Churches have always moved the bar based on the dominant culture. It's not a shock they're trying to appeal to what they believe is the dominant culture. It's a big reason why I stopped attending church. It's just an extension of everyday stuff we're already familiar with.

This is why sola scriptura matters in the Church. It is a shield against corruption and error and a sword to use against the wolves masquerading as sheep in the flock.

We left our church that used to be PCA but had changed to EPC (still theologically sound though), once the pastor (whom I still love) started telling the congregation we were racists whether we knew it or not. This was post Ferguson and it never recovered. Many people left.
The pastor recently left too, so we want to see if the BS left with him. Kinda doubt it.

IMO, it's a road on which you can never double back.

Yes. In California (of course). The AP history teacher at a "conservative Christian" school. She then friends the students after they graduate from high school. It just indoctrinates them. Her husband did a film class. My kids never took his class, so I can't be certain about his class.

Then the theater teachers facebook friend the students after high school and they are so supportive of the students who announce they are gay or transgendered.

It's like they counter everything the kids were raised with.

I hate social media!

This isn't universally true. But unfortunately it's the predominant trend.

I'm pushing our fam for a move to our in-laws just (well it's a top-3 reason) to be close to a solid church (First Pres Columbia).

ETA: I haven't stayed abreast of BR churches, but I watch Community Bible streaming these days and it is rock solid imo.

Friend,

If your church is preaching love without sacrifice, freedom without justice, and morality without involvement in the social world or politics of today, then it is not, in my opinion, doing justice to the ministry and teaching of Christ. There are very few American churches that teach the Gospel. On the one hand, there are those who have moved far left and focus on communal justice without the demand for personal holiness and repentance. On the other hand, there are congregations on the right who think once you confess your life to Jesus, all is well because "I" am well. Works to transform the ills of one's society are merely perfunctory for these people because "It's not about politics -- it's about personal relationship." That's absurd and inconsistent with the life, works, and teachings of Christ, not to mention the Tradition of our holy Church. America may be the hardest place in the world to be a Christian because of these poles of thought.

It's almost as if the Christian thing is just the medium they need to push their TRUE views.

They have more in common with an atheist anarchist than a member of their own chuch.

Broadmooor here in BR really turned me off recently when they were describing Colin Kaepernick as someone to look up to and then plastering BLM all over their social media.

Our Methodist denomination is splitting over disputes on social justice/acceptance. I attend (or watch online now) a traditional Methodist Church. Discussing it in administrative matters is obligatory in planning for the future of the Church (our Church) but it is only mentioned during a sermon from a Jesus perspective.

My church teaches that God is love, freedom comes from God, justice is ONLY found in God's judgement, and we are to only involve ourselves in the world as ambassadors for Christ and not social justice warriors.

Bringing the world and its problems into the church is not, and will never be "The Gospel". Telling people that this world is doomed and the only salvation is in Christ IS the gospel. We dont focus on what will eventually be just a blip in eternity (this life and the social struggles born out of sin), we focus on the eternal things and sharing the message so others can be saved from the world that will eventually feel the wrath of God.

When the church gets involved in the world struggles, inevitably the world's struggles enter the church. It's best for the church to focus on individuals and their salvation and leave the worldly issues to the worldly people.
