James Downey (formerly of the great NBC Letterman show in the '80s) is one of the most celebrated SNL writers ever. He was one of the main writers behind Norm Macdonald's Weekend Update.

quote:

Obama was, according to former show writer James Downey, too perfect for jabs.

“It’s like being a rock climber looking up at a thousand-foot-high
face of solid obsidian, polished and oiled,” Downey said in a 2014
update of “Live From New York,” an oral history of the show. “There’s
not a single thing to grab onto — certainly not a flaw or hook that
you can caricature"
Fascinating/hilarious/terrifying that this is how the Left still views Obama.

When you believe someone is "too perfect for jabs", its time to give
up trying to be George Carlin Jr & get out of the satire business.

That says volumes. The president of the US is beyond reproach because a joke at his expense (the president of the fricking free world!) is punching down?

he's not beyond reproach, it's just that biden makes a mockery of himself every day, what can a comedian say about him that he hasn't already done worse to himself?

A comedian that wants to go after both sides would pick a better target from the left like Schumer

My grandfather used to say “ getting old is terrible and really sucks, but it’s better than the alternative”

I always felt I was 10-15 years younger than my actual age until last year, cancer and a deadly blood infection made me feel it all very quickly

Kilborn was always the much better host of the The Daily Show. Only pseudo-intellectuals and awkward hipsters pumped Stewart's nads.

That shows you how left wing Hollywood and the entertainment business is when they view Jim Downey as "conservative".

LOL. He was spinning just as hard as anyone.

I loved the show when he was in his prime but anyone who used his Daily Show as a real news source is a complete idiot and part of the overall problem with our society

While it was funny and very well done, It was satire/entertainment and nothing more.

John Stewart is obsessed with gun control now. But he has no answer for how to removed guns from crims.

He's an idiot

Calling people racists and bigots because their politics are different is funny? That's not even juvenile/locker room humor. It's the ultimate whiny arse spoiled brat.

And one or two limp jokes about the other side doesn't make you impartial.
