Anyone who thinks Capitalism is evil should have to watch "The Pursuit" on Netflix

I enjoy watching documentaries and was flipping through some that I had never heard of before. I put on The Pursuit which billed itself as "Captialism: Is it the problem or the solution to society's ills? One true believer looks for answers around the globe."
It details the current climate and push for socialism. He goes from India, to Spain, to Denmark then around the US to debunk the argument that capitalism is failing. He is a self described "progressive and a catholic" but lays out all the arguments why capitalism is the true way to making everyone happy through their own hard work and building their own happiness. That welfare state sucks the soul out of you and even the dirtiest jobs give you a place of pride.
His visit to Denmark was especially interesting as it depicts a happy bubble of homogeneous people who all accept the high taxing climate since everyone is supposed to be a certain way and most fit into their social sockets (white and Danish). Those that don't fail.
I was caught off-guard at this well done documentary that is the exact opposite of what is being programmed into the minds of the younger generation today. that I highly recommend giving it a viewing.

Thanks mate - I'll try it. Would love to see critics reviews of this versus public ala Chappelle

To paraphrase Winston Churchill, Capitalism is the worst economic system except for all the other forms.

Watched it a few weeks ago. Good documentary. The only thing wrong with capitalism is when you have immorals and politicians involved. Crony corruption can destroy it. This is why i believe IF we had an impartial media that was hell bent on stopping CORRUPTION, we could save our country. Instead the media ponies up to the powers at be for protection and money. It's really pathetic. THANKS JOURNALISM SCHOOLS !!!!!!!

I could have told you this. I have been over there many times and it's about as homogenous as it gets. All shiny happy white people except that one immigrant slum tucked away in a corner of Copenhagen no one talks about or goes into at night.
The kicker is my wife's ex husband married a woman from Denmark and he lives in east Nashville in a cross over neighborhood. She was scared shitless and wouldn't unlock the door or open the curtains when she was there alone even though his little girl would come home from school and run up and down the street playing with all the locals.
She finally divorced him for other reasons but she showed up here all smug and sure of her superiority but when confronted with actual diversity she lost her shite and went home to her well-off parents in Denmark.
I found the whole experience quite amusing.

We had a lesbian couple over at our house who are friends with my wife and they logged into Netflix on our TV and it's still going strong a year later.
I love the irony they hate Trump and enjoy their Netflix for free.

I'm not anticapitalism but anti greed. Especially when it comes at the expense of manipulating capitalism.

True perfect capitalism is the best form of economics, but unfortunately it always becomes something else entirely.
What we have now is corporate fascism. Even at the local level also. I've seen it first hand. When we allow big government to dictate who wins and loses we lose the true nature of capitalism.
Ron Paul helped me see the true nature of our economy now. The solution isn't socialism. The solution is small federal government and less laws inhibiting the growth of small business.

I do think small businesses are often at a disadvantage due to laws and regulations. That said, big companies also have a tendency to exploit scenarios in which few laws and regulations exist. So it's a bit of a paradox. For example, big banks knowingly hold laundered assets because it's good for business. Establishing the right kind of environment is a tough task.

Rotten Tomato comments, as well as some on this board are quite interesting.
Yes Capitalism can be corrupted. And often is. But what other system isn't corrupted? As Milton Friedman would always ask "who are the better angels among us" who can run a perfectly non-corrupted system?
At least with Capitalism, we can choose to not buy a product. Not work for a company. As Ayn Rand theorized- the greed motive of capitalism is a means of self policing, assuming the costs of cheating and being caught outweigh the cost of doing legit business.
IMO- it is big business and govt cabal that corrupts our system. But the US is still be best system on the planet....warts and all.

I love when people admit to breaking one of the ten.
Especially when they reveal just how cheap they are.

I’m curious as to why you aren’t heeding your own advice? Or are you resigned to another Coach O eff up?
