Pretty darn rural where I live and the entitlement / vicitim mindset is highly prevalent

We have lived in Tennessee and now Texas. I would go back to Tennessee like I was shot out of a canon. Wife's job precludes it, for now. There's just something about Texas I don't like. Never have been able to put my finger on it.

I doubt I'll ever leave the South ... too many great aspects of the southern culture that I dig.
However, once I retire, I do plan to leave the city and reside in a more rural community ....

I had a heat stroke when I was 20. I do better in cooler weather anyway.

I’m just simply tired of living around the heavy entitlement and victim mentalities. I think I’m ready to move my wife and kids to a predominately white, conservative rural State.
There is poor trash everywhere. It just looks different.

It’s not the most free of the entitlement / victim mindset.
BTW both sides of our families go back to the early 1800s in Georgia; I understand it pretty well.

Idaho is for you. Buzz your head tight.
Pretty country and like minded folks in rural areas

No. I like my warm weather.

We left the Deep South over 20 years ago for the intermountain west. There are things I miss and things I don't about living in the South, but overall I have no regrets over leaving.

What are the other options - Utah, Idaho, parts of Montana?
Posted on 6/15/20 at 8:36 am to OchoDedos
Property taxes for starters?

Then you don't want any of part Texas. The weather is a real armpit. That's probably why I don't like it here..

Those sound good. I would not even be opposed to a non-mountainous area but if you’re going to uproot, might as well have some scenic beauty / awesomeness.

in what way entitled or victimized? I wonder because when I hear those terms I think of liberal places like Portland and Seattle. I don't think of rural Georgia.

You’ll just end up with another set of problem neighbors.

We just moved out of California. Right now we are in Northwest Arkansas. We literally just got here on Saturday.
We are going to rent before we buy.
Hubby wants us to go look at Idaho too.
