Wow, he's been binging on Revenge of the Nerds. I doubt any American child wants the culture where a son or daughter gets beaten at home if they don't get straight As....and told their future profession and future spouse at age 5.

Not at all, just think he started acting too big for his britches making some very bold statements. Also, as a white guy I'm tired of it. It personally does not affect me whatsoever but I am sick of hearing about DEI and people constantly shitting on white men, etc.
Its got to stop. And its going to stop.

So, like, a mean tweet?
The guy is right. I started a thread that went for a while on this. Lots of straw men and “muh feelings” replies, but most agreed with the content of saying the American work ethic is not what it used to be (especially among younger people).

As simply and nicely as I can put it, dont bite the hand that feeds you.

Dude really showed up on Christmas to call Americans lazy and idiots, and completely disappeared off the earth. Guess he realized he probably destroyed his political career with that stupid arse tweet
No don't you get it? Americans should have to compete with billions of third worlders and the rest of the world for American jobs or else they're entitled and lazy! They're entitled to our jobs for Pete's sake! Depressed wages? Nonsense.

The issue he is raising had VERY little to do with DEI. It’s American culture as a whole. Work ethic is not what it used to be.
Sure, there are LOTS of exceptions, but try finding skilled trade types for a hire, especially in the rural areas. I get lots of 30-35 year olds who have done nothing but manual labor or hospitality for 10+ years.

I would be more upset if he was spending all of this critical time hamming it up on cable news shows.
Do you think he's at home playing COD or rearranging his closet?

I've never trusted Elon, Vivek, or Vance. Need to see what they do over the next 4 years.

The culture in the country he's from is abject trash. This is why people move their families to the US. Any culture that produces a worm like him is one I don't want. People like Elon and himself are trying to replace Americans with slaves and a lot of you are cheering on your own demise.
frick Elon and frick little vivek.

I don't think he disappeared. He has no reason to go on TV or whatever it is you want from him.
Vivek's weapon of choice will be a red pen. I don't need to see him. I just need him to start chopping.

We use to hold local schools accountable to prepare the local youth for local/regional jobs. Lets hold our politicians accountable, not import cheap labor. We are in a quick sand situation. (yes I watched The Replacements for the millionth time the other day)

Screech came back to Bayside on a work-study program and then ended up in pron...

I get it. I still dont want to hear about DEI or people shitting on white men constantly like we have to do right this second. Its old, its been going on for a long time now.
All the race talk needs to stop in general, its foolish and the people who took time to read about history know how foolish all of this sounds.
Want to talk facts lets talk about what demographic pays 99.5% of ALL taxes, lets discuss that. Next time a person gets up on the stage to call an entire race lazy he needs to know whos writing the checks and it isnt him.
There are many other things we can talk about regarding white men if everyone wants to have that conversation.
Pack a lunch though, the list of accomplishment is very long and very distinguished on this earth.
All in all, Im tired of it. I am going to start praising white people every time I see news shitting on white men going forward.

I'm definitely on record here saying that how this H1B situation is handled this term will be a thorn in Vances butt in '28. DeSantis is primed to take advantage of it, if he does it right. And I was pissed that Desantis ran last time, but at least for him he got some campaign experience. Unfortunately for him though, he won't have access to the the Trump primary campaign set-up like Vance will. Trump definitely made his feelings known by picking Vance.

I don’t disagree with a thing you’ve said.
I just think it’s an almost completely different topic.

Not really. He's not a politician, just a guy who ran for president and lost. He was a good sound bite creator for media during the campaign.

The reason top tech companies often hire foreign-born & first-generation engineers over “native” Americans isn’t because of an innate American IQ deficit (a lazy & wrong explanation). A key part of it comes down to the c-word: culture. Tough questions demand tough answers & if we’re really serious about fixing the problem, we have to confront the TRUTH: Our American culture has venerated mediocrity over excellence for way too long (at least since the 90s and likely longer). That doesn’t start in college, it starts YOUNG. A culture that celebrates the prom queen over the math olympiad champ, or the jock over the valedictorian, will not produce the best engineers. A culture that venerates Cory from “Boy Meets World,” or Zach & Slater over Screech in “Saved by the Bell,” or ‘Stefan’ over Steve Urkel in “Family Matters,” will not produce the best engineers. (Fact: I know *multiple* sets of immigrant parents in the 90s who actively limited how much their kids could watch those TV shows precisely because they promoted mediocrity…and their kids went on to become wildly successful STEM graduates). More movies like Whiplash, fewer reruns of “Friends.” More math tutoring, fewer sleepovers. More weekend science competitions, fewer Saturday morning cartoons. More books, less TV. More creating, less “chillin.” More extracurriculars, less “hanging out at the mall.” Most normal American parents look skeptically at “those kinds of parents.” More normal American kids view such “those kinds of kids” with scorn. If you grow up aspiring to normalcy, normalcy is what you will achieve. Now close your eyes & visualize which families you knew in the 90s (or even now) who raise their kids according to one model versus the other. Be brutally honest. “Normalcy” doesn’t cut it in a hyper-competitive global market for technical talent. And if we pretend like it does, we’ll have our asses handed to us by China. This can be our Sputnik moment. We’ve awaken from slumber before & we can do it again. Trump’s election hopefully marks the beginning of a new golden era in America, but only if our culture fully wakes up. A culture that once again prioritizes achievement over normalcy; excellence over mediocrity; nerdiness over conformity; hard work over laziness. That’s the work we have cut out for us, rather than wallowing in victimhood & just wishing (or legislating) alternative hiring practices into existence. I’m confident we can do it.
If this is the tweet, then I don’t see anything wrong or untrue about it. And people who have the ability to look themselves in the mirror and be honest should be able to admit it. Just because it stings, don’t mean Vivek should be crucified for it. We do have a severe culture issue in the US. And it needs fixing quickly.
