stopped watching any porn years ago, it was one of the things that fricked up my natural sex drive and fed into my irrational side.

Its caused people (including women, looking at you, teachers) to become sexually reactive.

I guess there's some things we do agree on. Haven't watched porn in almost 2 years. Used to watch it a ton after my divorce. Shocker I quit the booze and drugs and eventually porn and life doesn't suck so much.

Nah the others are right - it's not the access that's the problem.
You & I have that same access to furry porn but we (hopefully ) don't looks it up because we know it's weird AF. Nobody is teaching these kids how weird they're truly being & they end up poorly adjusted & unable to handle life. That's what needs to change.

Shitty, low impulse-control losers have always been unable to avoid letting vices rule their lives.

If it’s not the three you listed, it would be three others.

Maybe they are the problem

In some places caffeine is a vice. Rock music is a vice.

Are you looking for a world without vices?

This approach is how we've gotten to where we are today.

I've been using it in gummy form (delta8/9 with CBD 10 mg) to help sleep longer than 1-2 hours before waking with arthritic hips. With it it's usually 5-6 hours before I wake to that. I take it 2-3 hours before bed.
It's been a game changer for me to get a much better rest.
I had to look up "depersonalization" and think on it. I don't feel that way at all personally but maybe it's because what I take isn't too strong, not sure.
In any case, while it is abused it also does serve a beneficial purpose for people like myself. Now I'm sure big pharma would rather have me on pain meds and big alcohol would prefer I use their products.

Cannabis and Ketamine can both trigger depersonalization

If youre not using a lot, just enough to sleep (10-20mg) youre probably in low risk group.

Yeah, just trying to get the benefit without feeling high.

I love weed and porn, but only when the wife is out of town.

I quit playing video games a few years ago when my SNES finally broke down after 30 years.

What about 2/3?

Its great for sleep. I have a very high tolerance, and it takes a shitload to get high.

But now I cant sleep without it.

I’m sure there’s a bunch of burnouts in this thread saying “I haven’t shot no one so it’s fine!”

Government intervention always causes unintended consequences. You have to weigh the consequences of intervention vs the costs of not intervening. Sometimes that balancing act justifies a government response, but it often does not. There is a reason we outlawed prohibition. The government simply could not eliminate the harmful behaviors it was attempting to regulate as much as the government’s action caused harmful behaviors to occur.

Assuming that government is a perfect tool which can be used in any situation to right any wrong is utopian and authoritarian. Humans are not blank slates, and governments are flawed bodies composed of flawed people with limited tools at their disposal with which to modify behavior.

As such, one must examine realistically what government could hope to actually accomplish vs what harm it could cause when weighing intervention against a given set of behavior.

Banning is futile. It will take self discipline which most humans dont possess.

Porn in particular.

Agreed. We also have to be honest about the effects of vices.

We have a people growing up who don’t even see weed, porn or gambling as vices.

I haven’t smoke weed since high school, played video games since college and very rarely watch porn as an adult.

But I also don’t want any of them banned.

There’s no reason to ban any of them.

We should have much tighter controls to keep adolescents and pre-adolescents from viewing it. (And of course parents should be more involved in controlling their children’s online activities.)

LOL “abandoning God and religion”

I know so many total pieces of shite who go to church every weekend. Most churchgoers are. It’s such a farce. They’re only doing it because they think they’ll go to hell otherwise. They have no interest in living like Jesus did.

The idea of hell was invented to keep humans in line and thankfully it still works for the soulless baptists and Catholics who don’t care about anything but themselves, many of whom post on this board.

That being said. You’re right about porn, it IS bad in that there is ZERO upside to it. Weed is moderately bad but OK in moderation, and video games are truly harmless in moderation. Addiction is bad in any form.

It’s the decision to use either. That is the issue here.

I don't have a problem admitting that I had a pornography addiction that was slowly destroying my life. With God's help, that addiction has been long broken and my life is so much better without it. I have long rededicated my life to Christ and am living for Him. Is life easy, no it's not nor was it promised to be but, I am thankful for each day God gives me and strive to live each moment for Him!
