We’ve been witnessing a grand battle since the inception of FB for the title of biggest attention whores. In this final battle the nurses crushed the teachers. Oil field baws came in a distant 3rd.
Come on now, your dumbass didn't have a .edu address at facebook's inception.

Yes and no. There are a lot of med-surg nurses that have made a professional decision not to deal with highly infectious patients on any regular basis that have been pulled into COVID units.
That said most of the nurses patting themselves on the back and making Tik Tok videos are the ones doing 3 12s and going home. My SIL shifted over to a COVID unit and is working 6 12s because she sincerely likes helping people and the money is insane. You won't hear any crap from her since she gets off and goes to bed as quickly as she can. She is self-isolating in one of our empty rental houses since she her FIL lives with her family and is at high risk. She's just busting her arse. They do get meals catered every day because they aren't allowed to leave their unit during their shift. Also don't discount the psychological strain of having patients after patients die and the speed at which they crash is crazy.
Some are being melodramatic without a doubt but the majority of them just have their heads down doing their job, often a lot more hours and in a different capacity. The back patters are just like the REMFs in the military.

Yes. I am tired of hearing about doctors and nurses on "the frontlines", as if they have bullets flying past their heads. The reaction to the virus is a hoax, and there is nothing out of the ordinary about what MOST of these people are doing.
I say "most" because some doctors and nurses are actually busy trying to save lives from diseases and injuries that are truly deadly, while everyone else acts like a hero for faking a crisis.

Pretty Much This.
I’m a nurse on a Covid floor in MA (Not Boston) but I actually still do my 3 12’s and go home, no Tik-Tok here. We are over staffed in our current situation actually. The majority of us just want to work and go home to our families.
My respect goes out to the grocery workers etc who
make much less than I do and have no PPE to speak of, with greater risk for exposure imo; hell I practically dress up in a damn bubble suit all day.

Yeah, little bit. Let's switch to Med Techs.

You might have an IQ if 9. Less posting and more reading. Viral load is an actual thing. Nurses don’t want to be heroes. They just want adequate protective equipment.
Would you tell a firefighter to fight a fire without masks and tanks? Yeah, I didn’t think so ..,.

Entitled about having standard protective gear do they don’t die, amazing how you some of you are so anti-abortion but turn around and condemn people who are literally exposing themselves to an increased chance of death each time they help another patient.

You don’t get because you are an idiot.
They take a job to help people. They are being exploited by administrators who are corrupt as frick without the virus, and who will literally refuse nurses testing because if they don’t test positive the nurse isn’t entitled to Workers Compensation Benefits.
The fact that you don’t understand means that you’ve never done a single risky job in your life.

I am tired of the hero worship of everybody.
15 years ago everybody got a trophy.
Now everybody is a hero.
just another example of cheapening the standards for something

I’m a doctor. I am tired of all this medical worker hero worship. It’s a part of the job you sign up for.
My hospital designated 3 units for covid only patients in Houston. One has been closed due to lack of patients.

It's dumb and irritating, but these women have been lied to and told that working is much more rewarding than family life. Then it turns out not to be, and they seek upcummies elsewhere. Very sad really.

My fiancé is a nurse and her and her coworkers wonder why people are calling them heroes when they are just doing their job and it’s not like they have a choice in the matter anyway. And also, Ochsner treats them like dogshit on a regular day and have been even worse since this started.
I still believe they should be appreciated for all they are doing because many are getting the virus and still being asked to come in to work as long as they are not symptomatic.

I don’t need recall seeing any Postal worker hero’dom when anthrax and bombs were busy being sent through the mail. Nurses have been a great help during this pandemic; however, this is their job.
You don’t get to pick and choose which patients you get to care for due to the danger factor.
