Just had to to get our return. I didn't like it. My wife insists on getting a refund at the end of the year. That is the LAST time I will be getting a refund. I'm changing all of my withholdings to where I'm not paying any taxes. The government holding my money under the guise of identity theft? They don't give a shite about that. It was all so I had to voluntarily confirm all kinds of information about myself. I feel like I just sold myself for money. I feel dirty.

We don't need an ID to vote. Why should we need an ID for the IRS?

I guess that's (D)ifferent when it's money they owe you. They sure as hell won't need one if I owe them money.

You can sign up for a code that is generated each year so no one can do a tax return and steal your refund.

They don’t ask for an ID when I write them a check every quarter

Too bad the Internal Revenue Service ("IRS") allows millions of illegal immigrants to buy innocent taxpayers' social security numbers on the black market, in order to earn wages, after their green cards expire, if they ever had one.

Then, the IRS breaks their own laws to help the identity thieves collect tax refunds on the ill gotten wages, causing these types of refund delays and red tape for the legitimate American taxpayers of those social security numbers stolen.

And, to add insult to injury, taxpayers also pay for the same identity thieves to have language interpreters when they're defrauding the United States in meetings with IRS agents.

It's sad, because the media for the masses broadcast a lot of red herrings about this issue.

Don't have thinking errors. This scam goes back to Trump's administration too.

Do yourself a favor, wake up from the financial nightmare the IRS causes.

Your SSN, name, address, dependents, employer and income are already on your tax documents. What information are you afraid of them knowing? Your birthday?

Posted this in another thread a few days ago but yes
quote:

My first year as a pharmacist… I made good money and had never ever made more than like $10,000 per year beforehand and had never filed taxes before .. but anyway they withheld my taxes throughout the year

Come filing season… they sent me a letter saying I had to go to the social security office and verify my identity in order to get my refund.

I also had to login to some portal and answer various questions like my grandmothers birthday and pick an address I had lived in ti further verify myself
They had no problem taking my money all year, didn’t give a shite if I was who I said I was or not until it came time to get my money back… NOW they want to know who I am .

So the Medicaid office is right next door to the social security office . Medicaid office.. not an empty chair. Filled up and overflowing out of the office

Social security office.. I was the only person in there.. and I thought.. yep this about sums up America right here.

My wife and I owe money like normal. Accountant got everything together and we went online to file. We were rejected because we didn’t have a 1095 or something like that. Had to call market place insurance (Obama care) and ask wtf. IRS says we are on Obama care and we have never been. Took a week to get it sorted out. Things that make you go hmmmm……

This is dumb. They make you verify your identity to make a payment. The fact is the IRS is very disorganized and makes mistakes.

I’m all for adjusting your withholdings and paying the difference when you file, that’s your choice. Penalties are typically negligible or non existent. But don’t let double standards get in your way, there should be ID controls in tax returns just like there should be with voting. Its a self reporting system and there should be no opportunity for fraud.

I’ve actually received interest from the FedGov on overpayment.

And a 1099 from them for it.

They don’t ask for identity verification when you’re writing the check.
