I’m a vendor for a Texas location and will tell you that the company as a whole is very cut throat and demanding.
The employees at the campus I provide services for are worked really hard. Usually get burnt out and move on.
Although I have nice margins they are really slow to pay.

Compared to our government that buys the highest price of everything and spends 100k per bolt

People like Elon aren’t perfect in their initial decision making every time, but what they have is the balls and money to eventually get it right hence the fact most of his business ventures end up being Billion dollars(4-5 now). All these operations that while they accept government funding and or tax breaks actually provide meaning and a future for a better way of life for people on Earth.
People who complain about what he does and how he goes about doing it, more than likely have never worked in the private sector and have no clue how businesses who become successful operate.

I don't recognize you as a poster well enough to know your motives, so if you're not a troll and being sincere, then I offer this criticism respectfully...
This is an claim / opinion that you don't really back up in your post.
If you're attempting to do business with Musk's companies, it isn't unreasonable to think you may have done a tiny amount of research to know who you're dealing with as any salesman might do. But I doubt you have great insight into their qualities on an intimate enough level to make this claim-- especially if you've failed to make inroads. Further, every company will direct purchasing agents and decision makers to be judicious in spending if specs are equivalent.
Unsubstantiated hypothetical. You're not even in a position to know. This is meaningless.
Similar to my earlier comment, this doesn't square with you having a clue as to the qualifications of Musk's employees or why he and senior management have them in place.

First, they employ inexperienced decision makers. The decision makers are directed to buy the cheapest option

F those MF’rs. The nerve of these procurement people.
F em even more for taking another 30 or 45 days past the net payment terms. What are you going to do? Sue them?

I'll preface by stating that I do support the current efforts to downsize government but his actions in the private sector are concerning. Living in an area with three of Elon's companies I have tried to do business with them because money is being spent.

Welcome to planet earth dipshit. You obviously aren't on their vendor list. Try making some sales calls.

Net 120 sucks. Although I don't love how the EU does business, one positive there is that it's illegal to pay more than net 60. You cannot set a contract past net 60, ever.
When doing business with GE here in the states in the past, we have built in factoring costs and jacked up the price, even told them we were doing so and worked with their preferred factor. Banks hate when you get receivables past 90 days if you have working capital loans.
Also with certain customers such as Space X, we just told them "no". The price is for net 30, take it or leave it. Finally there are also ways of getting around longer terms, such as milestone payments. You get something down, prepapre an "engineering findings document", send it over and bill for a large chunk of the job, and order materials. By the time the bill rolls in for the "egineering findings" you can pay for your materials that have just arrived and tolled the net 30 bell.
Playing the Space X or Tesla game is just that - a game. You should come very prepared to play that game, just as you would with GM or US Steel.
