Are there a lot of states where schools are still closed? I guess I'm ignorant to it, but we've been going full bore since August.

Certain districts and cities in GA, NY, CA, and DC that I know off the top of my head are still closed.

CA is openly saying they may stay closed until after summer.

At least they are no longer using the “think of the children” line. They are openly saying this about teachers’ concerns.

Teachers union will do wtfever permanent government tells them to do. The teachers who speak out against reopening, will be punished and scolded by their union.

In GA most schools have been opened but the parent chooses in-school or remote learning. And in-school they all have to wear masks and distance, etc. What the CDC is releasing as "new guidance" simply brings their old guidance into existing reality.

I can't comment on other states.

I work in a high school.

I am for in person school as I feel it is better for kids.

I will give some stats for my school as that’s only what I know about.

We have about 2,500 kids and 150 teachers.

I don’t know how many kids have had Covid but it seems several every week get it.

About 25 teachers in my school have gotten Covid. None have died or been hospitalized.

3 teachers in my district have died and 2 of them were under 50. But this means that 99.9997% of us still live.

If you keep schools open eventually a very small percentage of teachers will die. But I feel the rewards of in person school outweigh the risks.

Cobb.

One of the better run districts I’ve witnessed.

Reopen? My arse has been teaching and coaching since the first week of August here in Mississippi, and I haven't missed a day.

We've been back in school here in the Houston area since August. The few who complain about it are getting shut down quick by the school board.

I see. But APS has already announced their reopenings, prior to the new CDC guidance.
