The odd thing is that his speaking style translates well in Spanish, as well.

The problem is that many voters sre neither.

You're not important enough for a thread. But outside of the Israel nonsense or the drug war, I support Cruz on just about every issue, especially fiscally

If you are not actually interested, what say you drop the schtick, OK?

I'll be sure to look closely at speaking cadence in all applicable languages next time I select my state representative.
I'll also look closely at local candidates who rail against special interests as they appear on one national talkshow after the next, raking in the majority of their campaign funds from out of state influencers. But that cadence, though...

Beto is polished and affable. He was humorous when appropriate and even self-deprecating about that awful “punk rock dress” photo. Sure, he dodged inconvenient facts, but all politicians do that.
That's easy to do when your interviewer is sympathetic to your philosophy.

You should have already been worried about Beto. Dude is a legit threat.
I don’t think the debates will really move the needle. No one watches Senate debates.

Very odd.
In any case, Beto seems comfortable ... at ease. Ted is many good things, but he never seems to look at ease.
Like it or not, some folks vote as much on style as substance.

I won't agree to anything with you. You're clearly a liar.

Ahem, who is obsessed here?
You started a thread on how articulate and charismatic Beto is, even though you claim to be a Cruz supporter. You've delved into how expertly he avoids "staccato cadence" in his conversational Spanish and how seamlessly He orates between languages. You've told us that speaking skills as rare as Beto's are something "informed and intelligent" voters find not just valuable but "determinative". He's "affable", hes "polished", he's "humorous". You've even touched on his viability as a candidate for POTUS.
Who do you think you are fooling?

I started a thread expressing concern that Beto’s apparent poise might work against my preferred candidate in their televised debates.
The natural flow of a reasonably-cordial message board conversation went on from there.
Of course, I did not actually say more than half of what you attribute to me, but that sort of misrepresentation is par for your course.
As just one example, you claim that I said “that speaking skills as rare as Beto's are something "informed and intelligent" voters find not just valuable but "determinative.”
What I actually SAID is that his speaking skills would NOT be determinative for informed and intelligent voters, but that most voters are neithe informed nor intelligent ,,, which is the reason I am concerned about his performance.
I don’t know whether you simply cannot read or whether younare instead smply dishonest.
EDIT:
Another active thread anchored because some moderator has a political disagreement with its content?

So a concern troll? All of the Cruz voters who don't miss a second of Colbert are sure to be influenced.
Everyone knows you will giddily vote for Beto. We just think it's sad that you don't have the courage to say it, and that you think we are all too stupid to see it.
Posted on 9/15/18 at 12:50 pm to Vacherie Saint
And I think you have the IQ and general awareness of a bucket of gravel.
So, yes, I think you are too stupid for ... well ... most anything.

Beto will win. There are too many stupid Mexicans and guilty white people who think a vote for Beto is a vote for brown.
