Ill bold it for you

This is the point. You can't 'bottom line' poverty in this country, across the board, with family values.

Do they? Serious question since I thought I had read that birth rates had declined.

That's a neat idea but I think it fails to show the complete picture. It may explain some of the effect, but I wouldn't be touting it as the answer. That's all I'm saying.

I agree. Another big answer is IQ. It can't be fixed by education.

And your opinion is wrong. We pour more money into public education for failing schools in districts full of dysfunctional, low IQ, single family miscreant people and we get nothing for the investment except that we should spend more money.

Zach. Take a deep breath and actually read what I'm writing.

I never said the government needs to do more re: education. I am saying the families and parents--whether one or two--need to do more. They are not placing enough emphasis on education and they are not taking advantage of the many opportunities out there, and this causes a cycle of poverty more so than just whether one is married or not. I am 1000% a firm believer that the best way to move up the social/economic ladder in America is through education. You disagree?

This is patently false. I don't have a link for you, but birth rates across the board, not just for the poverty-stricken dropped in 2009-2011.

No its not. My focus on education is relevant to poverty today, in 2014. Things change. I don't know much about poverty during the 1920s because 1) I wasnt born, and 2) I hated history in school. You think all the same factors at play in 1920 poverty are at play in 2014 poverty?

So, you just keep up with stuff after you were born? Well, that's pretty normal. I like to read about stuff that happened waaaay before me. You can learn a lot from history.

My dad, a HS drop out, was a teenager during the Depression. He did not get married because there were no jobs. If my dad were a teenager today, with food stamps, welfare, rental subsidies for the poor, etc. He probably would have fricked the living daylights out of my mom and left her for his next conquest while she got an abortion.

It's simple:

GOVERNMENT HAS REPLACED THE NEED FOR A DAD

In wedlock birth rates have declined. People who are married with jobs worry about recessions. People on welfare for 3 generations don't give a shite.

So, the solution is to rekindle interest in marriage.

But how do we get heteros interested again?

I certainly agree. The problem is that the K-12 educational model is designed to create equality. Money for the stupid. Nothing for the smart. It should be reversed. The smart will drive future jobs. The stupid will always be a drag. Egalitarianism is the fundamental value system of Communism. It doesn't work.

No. I'm going to watch the end of the golf tournament. It's getting really close. Looks like it could be a playoff.

Yea but then the endings of really good historical movies or documentaries wouldn't be an awesome surprise anymore

Phase 1.) Don't allow buttfrickers to get married.

Phase 2.) Don't allow rug munchers to get married.

Phase 3.) ???

Phase 4.) Profit.

1. Eliminate welfare of all kinds. Hunger is a great motivator.

It is also a great motivator to pillage.

These hungry are more likely to revolt and turn savage then realize the error of their ways and become civilized.

No, not one single thing will fix the issue. IQ is influenced by culture. Culture change (broad term) could be the best answer. One part of the culture change could be marriage, but I have my doubts about that, too. Marriage as a solid relationship, maybe...

Zach, I just pulled up several articles that the birth rate has been in decline for 5 years. One states, not only has overall rate fallen but:

"While overall fertility rates have fallen, trends vary by age, race and ethnicity.
For example, the fertility rate decreased among teenagers and women in their 20s, but rose slightly among those over age 30.
It held steady for white women, fell among blacks and Hispanics, and rose among Asians and Pacific Islanders last year."

Maybe like hundreds or thousands of years of culture.

IQ lines up with the demands of the environment. Change the environment, change the IQ.

Well at least you will be subjected to some real-time facts. You could actually come back and tell us who won. I'd believe you.

Don't start threads and ask for thoughts, and ultimately resort to flinging just any shite to see what will stick, and then dip out in the face of facts.

You did the same thing in the 'Abolish the VA thread' when it was deemed un-American to do so

I'm not following. What money? I went to public school, so nobody paid. I got money once I left to go to college since I earned it.
