Better than catching it in trap when you were aiming for squirrels. Getting one out of a spring loaded live trap is like choosing to cut the red or the blue wire......high stress.

I'm 2/2 without getting sprayed.

I had a heart but then I lost it
Think I gave those traps away at the free table at the town collection site years ago

I'll shoot squirrels. I just like the traps because they're passive and work while I don't have to.

Normal men and women should be able to meet and have families. Seems ridiculous to me that this isn’t status quo

You won't get an argument from me about people looking for excuses to get people on prescription drugs. However, I have a child with autism, and you certainly do not have to be non verbal to be autistic. My daughter babbled for the first five years of her life, and I really didn't know if she'd ever talk. But it wasn't long after that, that she began talking, and 9 years later she speaks extremely clearly, she's very smart, she has a talent for art and music.

That all sounds like someone who probably has no issue. When you spend time with her, however, you realize that she seems to have the emotions and interests of a child much younger than she is (some might say very "kidified"). For that reason, it's difficult for her to fit in with kids her age, though it doesn't stop her from trying. She also has a lot of obsessive traits (which I have, as well) that are hallmarks of autism.

That's what you call "high functioning" autism. It's not something that's such a big deal that everyone should feel sorry for you, but it certainly affects your life in a significant way. As a parent, once she started talking, it has been no issue for me. It's not at all a burden, and she's the sweetest person I know. My only concern is for her, and how she'll handle relationships in the future, and working, etc.

I have a high functioning autistic child who is on the way to being able to completely mask it in adulthood, like the guy in your video.

That doesn't come easy. We started speech therapies at age 2. Just being good enough to stay in a regular class is a major struggle that takes real work. That guy in your video didn't just magically get a diagnosis as some regular dude.

My 9 year old nephew can’t speak outside of a few mostly nonsensical phrases. He still has to wear a diaper. He can’t walk into a crowded room without dissolving into a terrified tantrum.

I assure you that tennis player isn’t “autism today” and this attitude is why badly autistic kids like my nephew are thrown into public schools with the general population and can’t get any focused treatment of substance.

Do you have a child who is on the spectrum?

No. Do YOU have a child on the spectrum?

Most here won’t listen to you. They already know everything…..

I get the frustrations with ADHD getting over diagnosed, but spectrum disorders are far more problematic and legitimate.

Same here btw

We spent 1000s on OT and minimal medications. It was a war K-8 and conflict 9-12. K-3 was heartbreaking.
